We are seeking an experienced M2 Risk Engineering Manager to lead Fintech New York engineers to drive the strategy, design, and execution of mission-critical risk platforms that operate at massive scale. This role owns end-to-end delivery of risk and fraud prevention systems that protect billions in revenue, enable seamless customer experiences, and meet stringent regulatory and compliance requirements.
You will lead a global organization of engineers, define multi-year technical and product roadmaps, and partner closely with Product, Policy, Analytics, Compliance, Identity, and Legal teams. This is a highly visible leadership role with direct impact on business outcomes, customer trust, and platform resilience.
Responsibilities
Strategic & Organizational Leadership

Own the long-term vision and multi-year roadmap for risk product platforms, balancing fraud prevention, customer experience, regulatory compliance, and platform scalability.

Lead and scale a global engineering organization, fostering a culture of ownership, technical excellence, and continuous mentorship.

Make critical build vs. buy decisions, manage platform investments, and drive measurable ROI and cost efficiencies.
Risk Product & Platform Delivery
-
Deliver highly available, low-latency risk decisioning platforms supporting large-scale transaction volumes and real-time customer interactions.

Drive modernization of legacy systems into cloud-native, API-driven, modular architectures with strong observability and operational rigor.

Partner with Product and Policy teams to translate risk strategies, policies, and PRDs into scalable, production-ready engineering solutions.

Enable AI/ML-driven risk capabilities, including model integration, explainability, and operational intelligence.
Cross-Functional & External Collaboration

Collaborate with Product Management, Policy, Compliance, Legal, Identity, and external partners (e.g., credit, business entitlement, regulators) to deliver complex, cross-domain initiatives.

Lead delivery of regulatory and compliance programs (e.g., authentication, step-up, regional mandates) under aggressive timelines.

Act as a senior technical and execution partner to executives and cross-functional leaders.
Operational Excellence

Ensure platform reliability, security, and performance, with clear ownership of SLAs, incident response, and continuous improvement.

Establish reusable architecture patterns, development standards, and best practices adopted across multiple teams and ecosystems.
Qualifications
Required
-
12+ years of software engineering experience with 5+ years leading managers and large engineering organizations.

Deep experience building and operating risk, fraud, identity, or payments platforms at scale.

Proven success delivering high-availability, low-latency distributed systems processing billions of transactions.

Strong background in cloud-native architectures (e.g., AWS, Kubernetes, microservices).

Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with Product, Risk, Policy, and Compliance teams.

Excellent executive communication, organizational leadership, and decision-making skills.
Preferred
-
Experience leading AI/ML-enabled risk systems and explainability platforms.

Prior ownership of platforms with direct P&L or fraud-loss impact.

Experience modernizing legacy systems and building 0-to-1 platforms.

Advanced degree in Computer Science or a related field.
