Leadership

We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to lead the engineering evolution of our Trust and Safety case management program. While this role involves providing leadership for our PEGA implementations, we are primarily seeking a strong staff software engineer with a solid foundation of development outside of the PEGA ecosystem. You will help us lead our case management engineering in-house, leveraging your deep background in backend development (Java or Python) to drive architectural thinking and integrations. This role is designed to grow beyond specific tools, allowing you to act as the 'go-to person' and owner for the platform, bridging the gap between our PEGA-focused development team and our internal full-stack teams.

Responsibilities

  • Architectural Ownership: Act as the technical owner for the platform, translating high-level business requirements into executable work and scalable architecture for the team.
  • Backend Engineering Leadership: Utilize a strong software development foundation—specifically in Java, Python, or similar backend languages—to drive technical excellence and integration strategies beyond just the PEGA platform.
  • System Integration: Architect and lead the development of complex integrations, ensuring case management tools work seamlessly with internal services, APIs, and data layers.
  • Team Mentorship & Alignment: Provide high-level technical guidance to bridge our engineering gaps—mentoring contractors who specialize in PEGA while collaborating with internal Staff/Senior engineers who specialize in Java/Python.
  • Strategic Modernization: Apply architectural thinking to evolve the platform, ensuring that while PEGA is a core component, the overall solution adheres to modern software engineering standards.
  • Operational Excellence: Champion DevOps, CI/CD, and continuous improvement practices to ensure production-quality delivery.

Qualifications

  • Staff-Level Leadership: Proven experience as a Staff Software Engineer with a track record of ownership and leadership in complex environments (e.g., banking or enterprise sectors).

Strong Technical Foundation:

Extensive experience as a backend developer with deep expertise in: -Full-stack technologies: Java, Node.js, React, Angular, or .NET

  • Cloud and DevOps: AWS, GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD

  • AI & Automation: NLP, predictive analytics, or generative AI integration with business workflows

  • PEGA & Integration Expertise: Leadership experience with PEGA is required—specifically regarding integrations and case management—but you must be a strong software engineer outside of this specific tool.

  • Architectural Vision: Proven ability to translate business requirements into robust technical architecture and lead the design of complex systems.

  • Collaboration: Excellent ability to work across teams, guiding engineers who may lack specific Java/Python expertise or PEGA depth, and unifying the technical direction.

  • Growth Mindset: Eager to make an impact as a cross-domain technology leader, applying broad engineering skills to solve specific fraud and risk challenges.
