Data Lineage Platform Architect/Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Data Lineage Platform Architect / Engineer to be part of an enterprise Data Lineage Enablement and Implementation team within a highly regulated banking environment. This role is responsible for enabling, validating, operationalizing, and governing end to end technical and business data lineage across the bank’s data ecosystem, supporting regulatory compliance, audit readiness, and enterprise data transparency across Risk, Finance, Compliance, and Analytics domains.

• Enable and operationalize enterprise wide data lineage across critical banking platforms
• Implement lineage solutions using IBM MANTA and related lineage technologies
• Design and validate end to end lineage for:
• Application level, schema level, table level, and Critical Data Element (CDE) lineage
• Support lineage coverage across:
  Core banking databases (Oracle, DB2, SQL Server)
  ETL and integration platforms (Informatica, Ab Initio, SAS)
  File based and legacy systems (File systems, Hive, COBOL)
• BI and analytics tools (Power BI, Tableau)
• Configure, tune, and optimize lineage scanners for large scale, complex data environments
• Partner with Risk, Finance, and Compliance teams to support:
  Regulatory audits
  Supervisory exams
• Model risk management reviews
• Validate lineage accuracy for transformations, joins, aggregations, and regulatory data flows
• Analyze and resolve broken, partial, or missing lineage and metadata gaps
• Collaborate with platform owners and data engineers to remediate upstream issues
• Maintain detailed runbooks, operational documentation, and knowledge artifacts
• Automate lineage operations including scheduling and orchestration using Arena
• Optimize scan strategies to balance performance, coverage, and regulatory timelines
• Enable lineage publishing and integration with Alation Data Catalog
• Act as a key contributor in Agile delivery and platform governance forums

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 9-12 years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Architecture, or Data Governance roles
• Strong hands on and design experience with data lineage platforms, including:
  IBM MANTA Data Lineage (preferred)

Ab Initio Data Lineage:

• Informatica Data Lineage

• Strong understanding of:
  Data governance and metadata management concepts
  Technical and business data lineage

• ETL / ELT architectures and batch processing frameworks

• Advanced proficiency in SQL and data dependency analysis

• Strong programming skills in Python for automation and scripting

• Working knowledge of GitLab and CI/CD pipelines

• Experience supporting hybrid (on prem + cloud) deployments in regulated environments

• Excellent communication skills with ability to work across technical and business stakeholders

• Strong documentation discipline and operational ownership mindset

• Nice to Have Skills

• Experience integrating lineage outputs with Alation Data Catalog

• Exposure to GenAI and Agentic AI for metadata enrichment, lineage analysis, or governance automation

• Familiarity with regulatory data management concepts (CDEs, RWA, regulatory reporting)

• Experience working in large banking or financial services organizations

• Knowledge of workflow orchestration and scheduling frameworks

Education:

• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
