In this role, you'll work in one of our IBM Consulting Client Innovation Centers (Delivery Centers), where we deliver deep technical and industry expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients around the world. Our delivery centers offer our clients locally based skills and technical expertise to drive innovation and adoption of new technology.
Your role and responsibilities
We are looking for a skilled Commerce Transformation Developer to join our team in Romania. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining backend, frontend and APIs for enterprise-grade e-commerce platforms.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including frontend developers, architects, and business analysts, to deliver high-quality and scalable solutions that meet our clients' needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain backend solutions using enterprise grade commerce engines, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability.
• Design and implement APIs and integrations with third-party systems (e.g., payment gateways, ERP, and CRM).
• Participate in requirements gathering, solution design, and technical workshops with stakeholders.
• Write clean, reusable, and well-documented code following best practices.
• Perform unit testing and assist in debugging and troubleshooting issues.
• Optimise backend processes for performance and scalability.
• Stay updated on commerce platforms and features and industry trends to drive innovation.

Required technical and professional expertise

Technical Skills:

• Strong proficiency in backend development with and javascript and typescript (node.js, angular/react) technologies.
• Hands-on experience with commercetools and other modern headless customer engagement and e-commerce platforms.
• Strong understanding of MACH architecture principles and their application customer experience.
• Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, experience with GraphQL
• Experience integrating with third-party systems (e.g., payment processors, logistics providers, enterprise-resource planning systems, ...).
• Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Knowledge of java is a plus
• Experience with database technologies (SQL, NoSQL) and data modeling.

Soft Skills:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
• Ability to work in an agile environment and adapt to changing requirements.
