Introduction

As the developer for our Data Scientist and Generative AI initiatives, you will spearhead the development and implementation of advanced AI-driven solutions. Leveraging IBM's WatsonX, commercial platforms and state-of-the-art pretrained models such as Granite, Mistral, and Llama 3, you will build scalable, secure, and efficient applications on the IBM Cloud infrastructure. You will collaborate closely with Solution Architects, Data Scientists, UX/UI Designers, and other stakeholders to deliver high-impact solutions that drive innovation within IBM.

In this role, you'll work in one of our IBM Consulting Client Innovation Centers (Delivery Centers), where we deliver deep technical and industry expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients around the world. Our delivery centers offer our clients locally based skills and technical expertise to drive innovation and adoption of new technology.

What would be your responsibilities?
Oversee the end-to-end development lifecycle of generative AI-based solutions, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.
Write, review, and optimize code for AI models, APIs, user interfaces, and backend services using best practices.
Work closely with the Solution Architect to translate architectural designs into functional software components.
Implement and fine-tune pretrained models such as Granite, Mistral, and Llama 3 within the watsonx framework.
Leverage IBM's watsonx platform to enhance generative AI capabilities, ensuring optimal performance and scalability.
Develop and deploy AI solutions on Cloud, utilizing cloud-native services for compute, storage, networking, and AI-specific offerings.
Collaborate with data scientists, UX/UI designers, product managers, and other stakeholders to integrate AI components seamlessly into the overall solution.
Communicate progress, challenges, and technical decisions effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, contributing to sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives to ensure project alignment and continuous delivery.
Ensure high standards of code quality through regular code reviews, automated testing, and adherence to coding standards.
Develop and implement comprehensive testing strategies, including unit, integration, and system testing to ensure robust and reliable solutions.
Optimize AI models and applications for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency on Cloud.
Keep abreast of the latest advancements in generative AI, Cloud services, and relevant technologies to continuously enhance the solutions.
Identify and implement improvements in development processes, tools, and methodologies to increase team efficiency and product quality.
Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including code documentation, API specifications, and deployment guides.
Implement security best practices in the development lifecycle, ensuring that solutions comply with IBM's security policies and industry standards.

Required technical and professional expertise

Experience:

Minimum 1+ years in software development, with experience in working in development teams.
Proven experience in developing and deploying AI/ML solutions, particularly generative AI models.
Hands-on experience with IBM's watsonx platform and Cloud infrastructure.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in languages such as Python, Java, or JavaScript relevant to AI development.
Strong experience with AI/ML frameworks like Tensor Flow, Py Torch, and their application in generative models.
Expertise in deploying and fine-tuning models like Granite, Mistral, and Llama 3.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control systems (e.g., Git), and containerization tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
Strong understanding of RESTful API design and implementation.
Experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases relevant to AI applications.

Soft Skills:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address technical challenges effectively.
Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of development and documentation
