Job Description:

About the Role & Team

Disney Digital Entertainment, a division of Disney Experiences, is redefining how audiences interact with The Walt Disney Company—creating the ‘digital front door’ that unites all of Disney’s magic into a cohesive, interactive universe.

Disney Digital Entertainment is seeking talented individuals passionate about pushing the boundaries of scalable systems that power unforgettable experiences. You’ll design and optimize high-performance platforms.

As a Senior Online Engineer, you will play a key role in developing and maintaining high-performance, scalable software platforms. You will design and implement robust infrastructure solutions and create APIs to meet the organization’s data needs. With your in-depth expertise, you will work on high-volume, transactional systems, ensuring they are reliable, efficient, and capable of handling high load. You will contribute to the development of design specifications, collaborate with internal and external teams, and mentor less experienced engineers. Your problem-solving skills will be vital in addressing complex challenges and improving technical tools and processes. While working with defined methods, you will often make independent decisions and help shape approaches to meet team and project objectives.

You’ll join a team grounded in our Disney values — acting with Integrity, welcoming everyone through Inclusion, embracing boundless Creativity, working together through Collaboration and caring deeply for our Community. These values shape how we work and how we support one another every day.

This role can be based remotely in Sweden, Denmark, Finland or Norway.

What You Will Do

  • Build Scalable Online Systems: Design and maintain robust APIs and backend services that handle high-volume, real-time interactions. Keeping Disney’s digital experiences fast, reliable, and magical.

  • Performance: Ensure systems run smoothly under heavy load low latency, high availability, and seamless scalability.

  • Collaborator: Work closely with engineers, designers, and external partners. Share knowledge, mentor junior team members, and help shape best practices.

  • Strategic Problem-Solver: You think ahead, identify potential issues early, and develop practical solutions that make a real impact.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Proven Expertise: You have a strong track record of building and maintaining complex online systems at scale.

  • Technical Leadership: Skilled in high-performance server development and API design, with the ability to guide architectural decisions.

  • Languages: Adaptable to any programming language required for the task, experience in Go is a plus, which is currently the most widely used language in the team.

  • Collaborative Mindset: You thrive in cross-functional teams, communicate clearly, and mentor others.
