As a Advanced Systems Engineer at Honeywell, in Yeovil, you will be responsible for understanding costumer requirements and working on systems and components. This is a hybrid role, 3 days at the office + 2 days work from home model.

ECS Systems Engineering at Honeywell Aerospace Yeovil is the branch of engineering concerned with the design and development of potentially large and complex aircraft bleed air management systems, where a ‘system’ is understood to be an integration of subsystems or components working together toward a common objective. Core technologies include turbomachinery, electro-mechanical valves, heat exchangers and associated electronic controls. Systems Engineering concentrates on the precise specification of system structure and behaviours in order to satisfy customer requirements. The role of the Systems Engineer encompasses the complete product design and development life cycle including, system concept development, design, build, qualification, certification, and in-service support. In addition to being a key customer contact, the Principal Systems Engineer may be required to lead global Honeywell resources and external suppliers to define and align product designs with customer’s system requirements

Key responsibilities

• The Systems Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the compliance of the system and its products to the customer requirement documentation. Experience in the use of DOORS / DOORS NG as a requirement’s capture software would be useful.

• This position is responsible for providing technical expertise as a team leader or member on a variety of projects and programmes.

• Responsible for providing technical expertise as a team leader in the identification and development of new products.

• May act as a technical consultant for management. Uses expert knowledge of engineering discipline and Honeywell standards, processes and tools in order to complete and ensure compliance of various projects. Develops and defines engineering processes in the COE.

• May participate in development of new business opportunities and product lines. The Systems Engineer is expected to manage his or her time according to the demands of the programme and the department and a degree of working outside of normal hours may occur given the global aspects of the customers and Honeywell Aerospace organisation.

Qualifications & Experience

• Would consider Graduates for this role

• An engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electromechanical Engineering is required, including knowledge of thermodynamic, fluid dynamic and control theories and practice.

• Specific experience of working with air management systems would be useful. However, other relevant systems experience would also be taken into account and assessed on merit.

• An additional knowledge or experience of ‘Vapour Cycle System’ (VCS) technology and product design would be useful. A good grounding and experience of engineering practices, design and practical applications would be useful
