Join our dynamic Flight Management System team at Honeywell Aerospace, where we design, develop, and integrate highly complex systems for our Anthem Next Generation Avionics project. We are on the lookout for an experienced Lead Software Engineer who is passionate about creating innovative software solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers.
In this role, you will work in a fast-paced and exciting development environment with a team of experienced software and systems engineers to satisfy technical requirements, support functional load deliveries and ensure compliance with certification requirements.
You will report directly to our FMS Sr. Software Engineering Manager, and you will work at our Phoenix, Arizona location on a hybrid work schedule.
YOU MUST HAVE
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics.
- 5+ years of experience leading software development projects, particularly in aviation or Flight Management Systems.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in software development.
- Strong C++ or Object-oriented programming skills.
- Experience with software development methodologies such as Agile or Scrum.
- Knowledge of aerospace standards and regulations, such as DO-178C.
- Solid understanding of software development best practices, design patterns, and architecture principles specific to aviation applications.
WE VALUE
- Bachelor’s degree or Advanced degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or another related field.
- 8+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on the Flight Management System or related aviation technologies.
- Multi-core / multi-thread development experience.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and mentor team members.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Passion for innovation and continuous learning.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong analytical and software development skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead a team of software engineers, providing technical guidance and mentorship on functions related to the Anthem Flight Management System.
- Design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality software solutions in accordance with project specifications for the Anthem Flight Management System.
- Apply strong analytical and software engineering skills to solve complex technical challenges.
- Integrate Flight Management System (FMS) software for new product development efforts.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define software requirements and specifications.
- Coordinate software‑level integration activities across multiple engineering teams.
- Implement software solutions that meet performance, security, reliability, and scalability requirements.
- Conduct software requirements reviews and code reviews, providing constructive feedback to team members.
- Perform software testing and integration on lab test benches.
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in software development.
