The Technical Analyst PS&P works within the Quality Engineering department at the Honda Canada National Office (HCI). The foremost responsibility of this position is to drive continuous quality improvement for the Canadian Power Sports (Motorcycle, ATV, SxS, etc.) and Power Equipment market. The incumbent’s purpose is to drive countermeasure activity through market problem identification, parts analysis, related project coordination and field visits when required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Daily monitoring of dealer warranty submissions and parts call-in

  • Perform technical investigations of failed parts or product systems to identify the root cause and recognize patterns or trends

  • Conduct market data analysis to define and prioritize commonly occurring quality issues and generate technical reports to communicate Canadian quality issues and investigation findings to appropriate stakeholders

  • Support Honda Research and Development, factory in-market research, product testing, new model development, etc.

  • Coordinate and/or participate in new model Initial Quality Check (IQC) events to confirm product compliance, quality, functions, crating and shipping logistics

  • Develop test plans to replicate real-world product usage conditions within a controlled environment

  • Using appropriate tools and measurement equipment to quantify product performance and compare it to acceptable specifications

  • Coordinate and/or perform field visits, as necessary, for technical investigations

  • Work collectively with external departments (R&D, factories, etc.) to ensure progress of countermeasure activities

  • Validate quality improvement countermeasures to judge overall effectiveness

  • Generate technical service publications for dealers, outlining new and revised repair procedures

  • Provide technical support, as needed, to other groups within Honda Canada including Tech Line, Field Engineering Specialists, Customer Relations, Product Planning, Publications, Sales, Advertising, Training, Legal, etc. as well as external stakeholders such as Production Factories, Research and Development departments, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • University Degree

  • Engineering, preferably in Electrical, Mechanical, or System Design

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with PS&P product repair/problem diagnosis from prior work experience

  • Strong analytical, planning, organization, and strategic skills

  • Skilled in component analysis for the purpose of determining cause of failure

  • Ability to perform electrical/mechanical troubleshooting including understanding of electrical and technical drawings

  • Proven written and verbal communication skills, including experience in preparing technical documents

  • Experience in MS Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint

  • Proven interest and ability to learn new product technologies

  • Workload and time management proficiency

  • Project management capability

  • Valid ‘G’ driver’s license required

  • Self-starter, able to build collaborative relationships with external teams and use effective communication techniques to report and resolve quality issues

  • Willing and able to travel domestically and/or internationally on short notice, when needed

  • Willing and able to work overtime on short notice, when needed

  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with all members of the team

  • Develop, establish, and maintain good working relationships with external suppliers, partners, consultants, stakeholders and other network contacts

  • Enjoys team-building approach of management and department

Desirable assets:

  • Professional Engineering designation

  • College Degree or Trade designation – PS&P and or automotive diagnostic & repair

  • Mechanic’s license, Automotive and/or Motorcycle

  • 5 years of PS&P or related experience

  • Honda brand specific PS&P product knowledge

  • Marine product knowledge/experience

  • Proficiency with French

  • Valid ‘M’ driver’s license

  • Valid passport

  • Access database knowledge

HIRING PRACTICES

The salary range for this position is $86,900- $108,600 CAD annually. Individual salaries within this range are determined by a variety of job-related factors, including education, experience, knowledge, and skill set.

This is an on-site with occasional work-from-home position that requires employees to work on-site four days per week with the opportunity to work-from-home one day per week (with a dedicated workspace at the assigned company office).
