The Hartford is seeking a strategic and results‑oriented Treasury Director who will serve as the enterprise lead for treasury project management, bank relationships, treasury compliance, and vendor management, while also leading and developing a high‑performing treasury team that supports these initiatives. This senior‑level role is critical to ensuring the strength, efficiency, and integrity of our treasury operations and will play a key role in advancing business growth and innovation. The Treasury Director will be based in our Hartford, CT, Home Office.
Responsibilities:

Serve as the primary owner and subject‑matter leader for treasury project management, banking relationships, treasury compliance, and vendor management, with direct accountability for outcomes.

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of treasury professionals, fostering a collaborative and high‑performance culture.

Direct and oversee large‑scale, complex treasury initiatives, ensuring disciplined execution, strong governance, and alignment with organizational priorities.

Build and maintain strong, strategic relationships with banking partners and financial institutions, acting as the senior point of contact.

Ensure compliance with all treasury‑related policies, regulations, and reporting requirements, maintaining strong controls and risk management practices.

Maintain oversight of Treasury vendors, including SLA performance, issue resolution, quarterly business reviews, contract negotiation, and ongoing process optimization to maximize value and mitigate risk.

Identify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency, accuracy, scalability, and controls across the treasury function.

Collaborate cross‑functionally with finance, accounting, and business partners to align treasury strategies with broader corporate objectives.
Qualifications:
-
12+ years of progressive experience in treasury or corporate finance, including senior‑level leadership responsibility.

Demonstrated success leading complex, cross‑functional projects with the ability to drive initiatives from concept through execution.

Strong knowledge of treasury operations, banking products, cash management, liquidity, and financial risk management.

Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders, manage external partners, and navigate competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

Prior experience successfully leading and managing a team.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts for diverse audiences.

Significant experience operating within a large, complex organization, with exposure to sophisticated treasury operations, governance structures, and scale‑driven challenges.

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s preferred).

CTP or CCM strongly preferred.
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$138,800 - $208,200
