Introduction:

The Enterprise Observability Lead is responsible for defining and executing the global observability strategy across IT, OT, cloud, and manufacturing environments. This role designs scalable approaches for data acquisition, ingestion, enrichment, and analytics, enabling actionable insights through standardized dashboards and advanced data use.In addition to technical leadership, this role builds and sustains global observability communities and champions, expanding capability, consistency, and adoption across regions and domains.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Architecture:

  • Define and own the enterprise observability strategy, aligned to business, manufacturing, and security objectives.

  • Establish reference architectures and standards for telemetry collection, data pipelines, storage, and analytics across global environments.

  • Drive consistency in observability design across IT, cloud, OT, and manufacturing systems.

Data Acquisition & Pipelining:

  • Lead global approaches for logs, metrics, traces, events, and signals ingestion from diverse sources.

  • Design scalable, resilient data pipelines that support high-volume, low-latency, and regulated environments.

  • Partner with platform, network, security, and manufacturing teams to ensure reliable telemetry coverage.

Data Use, Analytics & Insights

  • Enable advanced data use and mining, including correlation, anomaly detection, service health modeling, and trend analysis.

  • Define patterns for actionable insights that support operations, reliability, performance, and risk reduction.

  • Promote data quality, normalization, enrichment, and lifecycle management.

Dashboards & Executive Visibility:

  • Establish global standards for dashboards, KPIs, and service health views.

  • Deliver role-based visibility for operators, engineers, and executives, ensuring insights translate to action.

  • Drive adoption of outcome-focused metrics tied to manufacturing uptime, resilience, and efficiency.

Community & Capability Building:

  • Build and lead a global observability community of practice.

  • Develop and empower regional and domain champions to scale adoption and innovation.

  • Create enablement assets including playbooks, patterns, training, and reusable components.

Governance & Collaboration:

  • Partner with security, network, identity, application, and manufacturing teams to embed observability by design.

  • Contribute to enterprise governance, standards, and roadmap planning.

  • Influence vendors and platform teams to align solutions with enterprise needs.

Required Qualifications

  • 8–12+ years in observability, monitoring, data platforms, or systems engineering in large-scale environments.

  • Strong experience designing enterprise telemetry pipelines and analytics platforms.

  • Proven ability to operate across global, federated organizations.

  • Experience supporting manufacturing or OT-adjacent environments preferred.

  • Strong communication skills with both technical and executive audiences.

  • Observability platforms (e.g., metrics, logs, traces, APM, service modeling)

  • Data pipelines, streaming, and analytics architectures

  • Dashboarding, KPI design, and executive reporting

  • Cloud, hybrid, and on-prem environments
