Job Description

Gilead Sciences in Edmonton, Alberta is seeking a knowledgeable and motivated professional capable of working effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment. The successful candidate will assume a full-time employment role focusing on instrumentation in the capacity of Maintenance Technician.

Responsibilities:

  • Comply with all safety regulations and current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).

  • Assist in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of instrumentation and control systems.

  • Calibrate instruments and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Document all maintenance activities and maintain accurate records of equipment performance.

  • Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on a variety of plant equipment.

  • Exercise sound judgment working within established procedures to identify problems, generate alternatives, and recommend solutions within defined processes.

  • Locate and diagnose failures, replace defective components, and perform basic troubleshooting using standard electronic equipment, drawings, diagrams, sketches, specifications, manuals, and verbal/written instructions.

  • Utilize a variety of hand tools, power tools, and test equipment.

  • Work collaboratively within a team environment.

Knowledge, Experience, and Skills

  • Previous instrumentation experience in a chemical, pharmaceutical, or manufacturing facility preferred.

  • Working knowledge of maintenance systems, methods, and procedures.

  • Ability to participate in an on-call rotation (mandatory).

  • Flexibility to work overtime as required.

  • Comfortable working in confined spaces when necessary.

  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience: 8 years as an instrumentation technician in an industrial environment.

  • Certification: Journeyperson Certificate as an Instrumentation Technician or Instrumentation Engineering Technology Diploma.

  • Additional Journeyperson certification in a related trade (e.g., Electrician, HVAC, Millwright) considered an asset.

  • Experience working in a GMP-regulated environment.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
