Description:
This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the office in Sunnyvale a minimum of 3 days per week.
About the Role:
GM is looking for a Senior Capacity and Performance Engineer to join the AV Capacity and Performance Engineering team to support our critical efforts in developing autonomous vehicles. The mission of the AVCPE team is to provide input into large scale ML infrastructure strategy, advise on key decisions affecting our cloud budget, identify and execute optimization projects, and provide capacity planning and performance engineering expertise to support GM's efforts in developing autonomous vehicles (AV).
What you'll be doing (Responsibilities)
- Develop and refine technical models for capacity planning for GM's AV infrastructure
- Design and build automated analytical tools for monitoring capacity and demand signals
- Partner with AI/ML engineering, infrastructure engineering, and cloud vendors to proactively identify and drive optimization projects to increase engineering and cost efficiencies
- Design and execute performance benchmarks to measure capacity limits of our systems from ML training platforms to inference services to infrastructure components
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- 3+ years or relevant work experience.
- Bachelors Degree in Computer science or related field or relevant work experience
- Proficient in coding with modern languages
- Proficient in BI platforms
- Experience with data modeling and working with SQL on large datasets
- Experience with performance testing, monitoring, and analysis tools
- Good understanding of distributed systems including modern ML system architecture and design
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- 5+ years of relevant work experience
- Proficient in coding with Python (our preferred language)
- Prior experience with modern ML system architecture and design
- Proficient in Looker and Big Query
- Prior performance testing experience in benchmarking ML workloads in large GPU (200+) environments
- Prior experience with analyzing billing and usage data in GCP, Azure, or AWS
Compensation: The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of New York, Colorado, California, or Washington.
- The salary range for this role: is $175,000 to $225,000. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
- Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
