Description Work Arrangement: This role is categorized as** Hybrid . This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren - GM Global Technical Center , three times per week, ** at minimum or other frequency dictated by the business.

The Role:

As a Senior Buyer, you will be responsible for purchase of all or a specific portion of productive and/or non-productive materials, supplies, machinery, tooling and/or services. Responsible for actively participating in the development of commodity strategy, sourcing/negotiations,global/regional material budget execution, and collaborate with suppliers or internal partners. The work is of a sophisticated nature involving a considerable amount of initiative, analytical work and judgment.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities):

• You will be responsible for purchase of all or a specific portion of productive and/or non-productive materials, supplies, machinery, tooling and/or services. Responsible for actively participating in development of commodity strategy, sourcing/negotiations, global/regional material budget execution, and interface with suppliers or internal stakeholders.
  • Work is of a complex nature involving a considerable amount of initiative, analytical work and a high level of independent judgment.
  • Partner with Program Managers to represent purchasing and communicate program requirements/vehicle line overview.

Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

• Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Finance, Industrial Engineering, or related field
• A minimum of 5 years relevant experience
• Experience with commodities
• Experience managing commercial issues with suppliers and assessing supplier performance
• Demonstrated competence in negotiating skills
• Professional interpersonal verbal and written communication skills
• High level of analytical ability where problems can be somewhat complex
• Developed organizational skills including the ability to prioritize, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines
• Proficient with Microsoft office products
• Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time domestically and internationally.

  • Knowledge of materials management
  • Capable of interpreting market data
  • Able to read blueprints and to understand basic engineering documents
  • Solid knowledge of contract law and its applications regarding purchasing processes
