Work Arrangement: This role is categorized as onsite. The successful candidate is expected to report to their assigned GM worksite, five days per week and to respond to the site in the event of an emergency after hours, on weekend or holidays.

The Role:

As a Quality Engineer at General Motors LLC, you will be instrumental in ensuring the highest quality standards throughout our manufacturing processes and supply chain. You will apply your expertise to prevent defects, resolve quality issues, and drive continuous improvement, ultimately contributing to the excellence of our products.

What You'll Do:

  • Implement and manage Built-In-Quality (BIQ) initiatives to embed quality at every stage of product development and manufacturing.
    • Collaborate with engineering and supplier quality teams to establish and maintain rigorous quality standards for components and systems.
    • Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to analyze designs, inspect parts, and ensure dimensional accuracy.
    • Utilize Flex Net, GSIP, etc. systems for quality data management, analysis, and reporting to identify trends and areas for improvement.
    • Monitor and control manufacturing processes, ensuring adherence to quality specifications and standards.
    • Lead problem resolution and tracking efforts for quality-related issues, implementing root cause analysis and corrective actions.
    • Develop, review, and approve Process Control Plans to maintain consistency and quality in production.
    • Participate in cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives and optimize quality performance.
    • Conduct audits and assessments of manufacturing processes and supplier facilities to ensure compliance with quality requirements.
    • Generate reports and present findings to management on quality performance, risks, and improvement opportunities.

Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or related field) or relevant work experience in Process, Mechanical and/or Quality Engineering
    • Strong understanding and practical application of Engineering and Supplier Quality principles.
    • Proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
    • Solid background in manufacturing processes and quality control within a production environment.
    • Demonstrated ability in Problem Resolution and Tracking, including root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
    • Expertise in developing and managing Process Control Plans.
    • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced manufacturing environment
    • Must be able to work on any shift

    • Six Sigma
  • Blackbelt, DFSS, Statistical problem-solving certifications
    • ISO Auditing certification
