THIS INCLUDES DIRECT COMPANY SPONSORSHIP, ENTRY OF GM AS THE IMMIGRATION EMPLOYER OF RECORD ON A GOVERNMENT FORM, AND ANY WORK AUTHORIZATION REQUIRING A WRITTEN SUBMISSION OR OTHER IMMIGRATION SUPPORT FROM THE COMPANY (e.g., H-1B, OPT, STEM OPT, CPT, TN, J-1, etc.).

This job may be eligible for relocation benefits.

Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Orion, MI on a full-time basis.

The Role:

To ensure a flawless Orion Assembly launch and support our goal of 100% equipment uptime, a dedicated Spare Parts Coordinator is required to own the planning, availability, and flow of critical replacement parts. This role will provide a single point of accountability for aligning Maintenance, Engineering, Production, and Purchasing around a robust spare parts strategy, minimizing unplanned downtime risk during launch and early ramp. Key responsibilities include building and maintaining the critical spare parts list for all launch assets, setting appropriate min/max levels, driving readiness of suppliers, and actively monitoring consumption and lead times to prevent stockouts. By proactively managing spare parts availability and coordinating responses to emerging issues, the Spare Parts Coordinator will protect launch stability, avoid lost jobs and variable profit, and enable Maintenance to focus on fast, effective repairs rather than expediting parts.

The Spare Coordinator at General Motors LLC will be responsible for optimizing the availability and management of spare parts to support manufacturing operations, ensuring minimal downtime and efficient production processes.

What You'll Do:

  • Collaborate with design and engineering teams to ensure new components are designed for manufacturability (DFM) and serviceability, impacting spare parts requirements.
  • Implement and maintain General Motors Manufacturing System (GMS) principles in spare parts management, including inventory control, procurement, and distribution.
  • Work with HMI specialists to develop user-friendly interfaces for spare parts requisition and tracking systems.
  • Ensure all spare parts management activities adhere to Lockout Tagout procedures and other safety protocols.
  • Apply Process Engineering methodologies to analyze and improve spare parts workflows, reducing lead times and costs.
  • Conduct Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA) for critical spare parts and systems to identify potential failures and implement preventative measures.
  • Utilize Value Stream Mapping (VSM) to analyze and optimize the entire spare parts supply chain, from sourcing to installation.
  • Manage spare parts inventory levels, ensuring optimal stock without excess or shortages.
  • Develop and implement strategies for obsolete parts management and disposition.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to secure favorable terms and ensure timely delivery of spare parts.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field or 5+ years of equivalent experience
  • Proven experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive.
  • Demonstrated understanding and application of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles.
  • Familiarity with Human Machine Interface (HMI) concepts in a manufacturing context.
  • Proficiency in Lockout Tagout procedures and industrial safety standards.
  • Expertise in Process Engineering, including process optimization and analysis.
  • Experience conducting Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA).
  • Proficient in Value Stream Mapping (VSM) techniques.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of General Motors Manufacturing System (GMS)

GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role. Do not apply for this role if you will need GM immigration sponsorship now or in the future. This includes direct company sponsorship, entry of GM as the immigration employer of record on a government form, and any work authorization requiring a written submission or other immigration support from the company (e.g., H1-B, OPT, STEM OPT, CPT, TN, J-1, etc).

This role is categorized as onsite. This means the selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location on a full-time basis.

The selected candidate will be required to travel Total Rewards resources.
