Position: Manager, Digitized Manufacturing Operations

Position Summary – Manager, Digitized Manufacturing Operations
Lead the execution and sustainment of digitized manufacturing operations for assigned plants or regions. The leader is accountable for implementing and maintaining connected manufacturing systems, integrating electrical and end of line test capabilities, and digitizing GMS and core processes to remove paper, improve stability, and enable real time visibility.
Working within GM’s enterprise digital manufacturing strategy, this leader focuses on plant level delivery and continuous improvement—ensuring systems are configured, reliable, and adopted on the floor, and that they consistently support safety, quality, throughput, cost, and employee experience outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Execute the digitized manufacturing roadmap for assigned site(s), translating enterprise standards and architectures into practical implementation plans and schedules.
- Coordinate with plant leadership, Manufacturing Engineering, and IT to prioritize use cases and sequence deployments with minimal disruption to production.
- Lead day to‑ day deployment, configuration, and sustainment of manufacturing systems (e.g., MES/MOM, traceability, end‑ of‑ ‑line test, process monitoring) in alignment with GMS and standardized processes.
- Ensure integrations between manufacturing systems, electrical controls, and plant IT infrastructure are reliable, secure, and well ‑documented.
- Monitor system health and stability, drive problem solving‑ for recurring issues, and escalate structural gaps in partnership with central platform and IT teams.
- Implement and maintain digital dashboards, alerts, and reports that give leaders and teams real time‑ visibility to SPRQCE performance and abnormal conditions.
- Support introduction of AI assisted workflows and guided tasks that simplify operator ‑decision-making‑ and reduce cognitive load.
- Ensure data quality, standard work for data usage, and closed loop‑ feedback from daily operations into system and process improvements.
- Partner with Manufacturing Engineering, IT, Controls, Quality, Safety and external vendors on system design, integrations, testing, and cut‑over plans.
- Coordinate change control, configuration management, and basic governance for digital manufacturing tools at the site level, adhering to enterprise standards, cybersecurity requirements, and licensing constraints.
- Provide clear status, risk, and issue updates to plant and functional leadership.
- Coach supervisors, team leaders, and operators on using digital tools within GMS and standard work, reinforcing that “People run the system.”
- Be a Global lead in the re-design of GMS
- Lead training, job aids, and on the‑ ‑floor support to drive adoption and sustainment of new digital processes.
- Participate in problem s‑olving, kaizen, and layered audits to ensure digital systems are embedded into daily management, and share best practices across shifts and sites.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing operations with a strong execution focus in plant environments.
- Hands on experience with manufacturing systems and controls, including electrical systems, end off line testing, and process monitoring/traceability.
- Launch and Production experience
- Proven experience applying and sustaining GMS and standardized processing methods to improve stability and repeatability.
- Track record of delivering measurable improvements in safety, quality, throughput, and cost through effective execution of digital and data driven solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to partner with Manufacturing Engineering, IT, Controls, Quality, and external vendors on complex systems, integrations, and implementations.
