Senior R&D Scientist/Engineer - Totinos Pizza

This is the opportunity to drive holistic margin management (HMM) across a growing brand approaching $1Billion in sales. Totino’s has a long history and strong culture of HMM, consistently driving ~$20MM in HMM each year. As the Sr. R&D Engineer/Scientist on the Totino’s HMM team, you will be responsible for building the HMM pipeline and driving HMM initiatives for Frozen Pizza and Hot Snacks. In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead all aspects of HMM – strategy setting, pipeline idea generation, idea vetting, and commercialization. You will partner with the cross functional business team, the Wellston facility and with key vendors to identify and drive efficiency of existing products. Additionally, this role will provide coaching & team leading across Totino’s HMM project execution. The right candidate for this role will leverage strong technical problem-solving, project leadership skills and a high bias for action to critically challenge assumptions and continuously improve existing products and processes. This candidate will also leverage their experience to coach and guide executional excellence across the entire Totino’s HMM team. The candidate will collaborate and develop strong connections with cross functional partners. Ideally, this individual would also have prior experience defining product or HMM strategies to inform the future. In this role you will develop the ability to influence across organizations, advance technical possibilities, and develop leadership skills as the HMM leader on a business team. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Build HMM strategy and create & execute a pipeline of HMM ideas in collaboration with internal and external partners. Critically challenge assumptions to identify new HMM orchards. Strong cross functional partnership and influence to develop and maintain a 12Q HMM pipeline across Totino’s Pizza and Hot Snacks. Coach and develop R&D team members on flawless project execution: creating technical plans, timelines, risk assessment & mitigation plans. Overall HMM leadership across a portfolio of big & complex initiatives: identify synergies, conflicts, bundling & phasing of initiatives. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Engineering, or related field 5+ years of experience in product/process development Demonstrated, independent leadership of complex initiatives. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Demonstrated business acumen Ability to navigate a highly matrixed organization Strong acumen in project management and business processes – e.g. gPLM, CPWs, PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Driving impact through others; Experience coaching and/or team leading across R&D developers and technicians HMM experience; Demonstrated ability to define product or HMM strategies to inform the future Knowledge of USDA COMPANY OVERVIEW
