Senior R&D Scientist - Pillsbury

As the Senior Research and Development Scientist/Engineer for Pillsbury Transformational Holistic Margin Management (HMM), you will be responsible for the execution of Transformational HMM strategy, concept development, product formulation, and process development to enable the business to win in the marketplace. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to impact the ITQ function by leveraging your strong technical, influence, and project management skills to support all aspects of the Transformational HMM pipeline development and execution. The right candidate for this role will leverage strong innovation, project leadership, and technical problem-solving skills, to create new and continuously improve existing products and processes, with the goal of maximizing HMM and the development of long range Transformational HMM across the frozen and Refrigerated Pillsbury business. In this role, you will also serve as a technical coach and mentor for the Transformational HMM team, championing HMM and the HMM mindset across the Pillsbury business. The projects you manage in this role will provide you with technical depth and breadth, as well as cross-functional and cross platform. In this role you will have the opportunity to develop the ability to influence across organizations, advance technical possibilities, and develop leadership skills as a subject matter expert with a business team. Functional: Zero Based Design, Technology Development, Experimentation, Total Product Experience, Commercialization, Leadership: Matrix Relationship Management, Cross-Functional Team Leadership Broadening: Multi-Functional, Multi-Business, Corporate, Transformation Initiative, External Collaboration KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Provide product development leadership for ITQ Partner cross functionally and across the MBS Platform to build a consumer first HMM pipeline in support of the Pillsbury Business Lead the development of a 5+ year Technology enabled HMM pipeline through collaboration with the Baking Technology, Baking Processing, and Operations partners Develop new and innovative HMM analysis and vetting approaches to streamline idea creation to implementation Develop and lead the HMM handoff approach with ITQ Applications partner team Provide technical leadership across the Transformational HMM team to enable Executional Excellence of HMM initiatives Improve robustness of HMM Enabling thinking across Pillsbury business teams Champion food safety and product quality from product design through production Identify and support Total Delivered Cost improvement (HMM) initiatives for the business MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Food Science, Packaging or related field 5+ years of experience in product development or an applied science Travel (10%) Proven ability to deliver executional excellence, facilitate cultural learning, and develop technical and scientific rigor Ability to collaborate in a cross-functional and external environment and provide key product guidance Ability to be flexible and adapt to multiple situations PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Masters of Ph.D. in Food Science degree Demonstrated ability to lead technically driven projects Strong experience and technical background in food Innovative thinker, creative, willing to challenge established methods and beliefs Self-starter with a strong bias for action, as well as skills for problem-solving and troubleshooting COMPANY OVERVIEW We exist to make food the world loves.
