As an Electrical & Instrumentation Technician at the JFB Technical Center, you will be a critical technical expert responsible for the reliability and performance of our food processing equipment.
Working in a dynamic R&D environment, you will provide essential electrical, controls, and instrumentation support.
Your role is key to ensuring the highest standards of human safety, food safety, and equipment uptime.
This position involves a mix of preventative maintenance, corrective repairs, and direct troubleshooting support for new product tests and production runs.
You will collaborate closely with a diverse team of operators, engineers, and R&D personnel in a fast-paced setting.
Work hours are 1st shift 6am-2pm, Monday – Friday with occasional overtime support during the week and on weekends.
Key Responsibilities Equipment Maintenance & Repair:
Troubleshoot, repair, and continuously improve electrical systems for process equipment across our pilot plant and lab spaces.
Diagnose and repair advanced motor control circuits, including Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and servo motor controls.
Troubleshoot, program, and maintain Allen-Bradley Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
Perform basic mechanical troubleshooting and repairs to ensure total equipment health.
Instrumentation & Calibration: Troubleshoot and calibrate a wide variety of process control instrumentation, including sensors and transmitters for pressure, flow, temperature, humidity, torque, current, and voltage.
Safety & Compliance: Champion a culture of safety by performing daily risk assessments, conducting equipment safety audits, and actively promoting a safe work environment.
Ensure all work complies with OSHA, NFPA 70E, and National Electrical Code (NEC) standards.
Collaboration & Communication: Partner effectively with operators, managers, engineers, and R&D personnel to support project goals and timelines.
Communicate technical issues and solutions clearly to team members at all levels.
Required Qualifications A two-year trade school certificate in an accredited electrical program OR a minimum of two years of related industrial electrical experience.
Proven experience installing and maintaining process electrical components.
Strong understanding of electrical safety standards, including NFPA 70E and NEC.
Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to use root cause analysis to solve recurring problems.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex electrical wiring diagrams and schematics.
Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a high-activity environment.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 55 pounds.
Flexibility to work occasional overtime during the week and on weekends as needed.
Preferred Qualifications State of Minnesota Journey Worker or Maintenance Electrician License.

Salary: Range The salary range for this position is $56700.00 - $78100.00 / Annually.
