Production Operator

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and in accordance with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), we have implemented a number of safety precautions at all of our locations to protect our employees. Position Overview: The Cincinnati, OH Plant manufactures BIG G cereals. In 2011, the plant took on an expansion to add new capacity and continues to innovate and expand today. Our facility currently operates three full cereal systems with an expanded portfolio of cereals. We employ 50 support staff members and 170 union hourly employees. Compensation: The starting hourly wage for a General Laborer position is $17.90. After 75 working days, employees' wages will increase to at least $19.66 and up to $22.30. Additionally, wage increases will be provided after the first and second year of employment. Employees begin receiving maximum wages for their chosen job (up to $29.73/hour) after the third year of employment Shift differential payments are provided to those working 2nd or 3rd shift. Skilled Operators are hired as members of a manufacturing team. They are responsible for the support of various processing and packaging equipment operations throughout the facility. The General Mills-Cincinnati plant operates 24 hours per day 7 days per week. Changes in volume and production requirements can result in changes in work schedule and additional overtime. General Laborers must be willing to work any shift including nights and weekends. Main Responsibilities: Follow all company safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment Support production lines by supplying with materials as needed Perform various sanitation and clean up duties Demonstrate a strong customer service mindset Assist operators during bottlenecks or when production lines are shut down Participate in start-up, change over and shut down of operating equipment Be responsible for executing all required HACCP processes and documentation Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives in order to increase platform performance Attend meetings and training as required Perform additional related tasks as assigned Minimum Qualifications: Must be 18 years of age or older Must have the ongoing right to work in the U.S. without sponsorship High School Diploma or GED Proficiency in basic computer skills Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as required by the position Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time including: standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling and twisting over surfaces Willing and able to work any shift schedule, including nights and weekends Ability to wear protective clothing and equipment such as safety shoes, face masks, safety glasses, hearing protection, a hard hat, a hair/beard net and gloves when required Ability to work with allergens that might be present in a food environment Willing to work around industrial high speed moving machinery Ability to work at a tobacco-free site, except in designated areas Willing and able to adhere to all grooming requirements necessary for a food manufacturing environment Preferred Qualifications: 1+ years of experience in a food production environment Demonstrated leadership ability COMPANY OVERVIEW We exist to make food the world loves.
