Financial Analyst, Los Angeles (Vernon) Mill

OVERVIEW General Mills is seeking a Financial Analyst to join the Vernon, California Team. This position plays an integral part of the financial management of our flour Mill and will also work closely with the Finance Site Lead in our Great Falls, Montana flour Mill. The position will conduct analysis and assist in decision-making in a highly cross-functional, interactive work environment, work closely with the Finance Site Lead in the development of operating budgets and strategic planning. Broad sets of responsibilities include capital investment analysis, plant performance reporting and forecasting across all functions. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Provide financial support for site’s project expenditures including project review, determination of fixed asset useful life, project close cost analysis, and fixed asset identification/auditing. Lead analyst for all cost activity within the production facility, providing analysis and insights across key areas such as business decision support, planning & forecasting, and business performance & reporting. Analyze monthly overuse results and leverage financial acumen to identify potential cost savings trends. Perform month-end closing activities such as cost center reviews, reconciliation and journal entries. Assist in the development of annual budgets and forecasts including depreciation, overuse, utilities, maintenance and wage labor. Perform ad-hoc analysis, costings, and research to support initiatives and projects. Track and support delivery of annual HMM (cost savings) targets. Will actively participate with cross functional HMM teams. Assist in maintaining audit ready status of internal controls through periodic review and self-audits. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS BA/BS Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field and 2+ years of experience 1-2 years of related experience Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to work well in a team environment and with little supervision Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively interact with individuals of various levels and functions PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Working knowledge of SAP 3-5+ years of related experience Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment Experience working in a finance/accounting role within manufacturing Initiative and ability to work independently and to effectively work with a team COMPANY OVERVIEW We exist to make food the world loves.
