General Mills, one of the leading consumer food companies in the U.S., has an immediate opportunity in its Buffalo, NY facility for a Journey Worker Maintenance Electrician (or equivalent) with industrial experience. The General Mills-Cereal plant operates 24 hours per day 7 days per week. Changes in volume and production requirements can result in changes in work schedule and additional overtime. Qualified candidates must be willing to work any shift, including nights and weekends. General Mills also offers shift differential payment for those working off-shift. Generous paid vacation Safety oriented culture 401(k) with company match Pension Qualified candidates should have a minimum of 4 years of experience in an industrial maintenance setting which should include working knowledge of general electrical construction practices and codes, wiring, industrial electronics, PLC knowledge (Control LogiX preferred), instrumentation installation and calibration as well as troubleshooting production machinery and control systems. Main Responsibilities: Follow all company safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment Be responsible for the overall integrity and reliability of control systems throughout the plant Have working knowledge of general electrical construction practices and codes, wiring, industrial electronics, instrumentation installation and calibration Provide technical support/skills for equipment troubleshooting and controls/equipment modifications Have working PLC knowledge (preferably Control LogiX) Support plant maintenance department with PLC troubleshooting at a code level Work with engineering and maintenance teams to modify PLC programs in order to improve operations Test various electrical equipment (AC/DC drives, motors and controls) using standard test equipment and observing system/unit operations Provide guidance and support for preventative and predictive maintenance tools Design and layout circuits, install fixtures, wiring conduits, motors, and other electrical equipment/components Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives in order to increase platform performance Assists in training new employees as needed Attend meetings and trainings as required Perform additional related tasks as assigned Minimum Qualifications: Must be 18 years of age or older Must have the ongoing right to work in the U.S. without sponsorship High School Diploma or GED Four years’ experience in industrial electrical maintenance or equivalent education in a related field Willing and able to work any shift schedule, including nights and weekends, daily overtime and overtime outside your regular scheduled hours as required Proficiency in basic computer skills Must be able to lift 50 lbs. as required by the position Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time, including standing, walking, climbing, bending, squatting, pushing, pulling and twisting over surfaces Ability to climb and/or work at heights while utilizing stairs, ladders, personnel lifts, or platforms Ability to wear protective clothing and equipment such as safety shoes, face masks, safety glasses, hearing protection, a hard hat, a hair/beard net and gloves when required Ability to read schematics Willing and able to adhere to all grooming requirements necessary for a food manufacturing environment Ability to work in hot, cold, noisy, dusty, wet environmental working condition Willing to work around industrial high-speed moving machinery Ability to work in confined space such as bins, silos, or tanks COMPANY OVERVIEW We exist to make food the world loves.
