In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and in accordance with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), we have implemented a number of safety precautions at all of our locations to protect our employees. Position Overview: The Sheet Metal Fabricator will work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment working on a wide range of equipment and projects. Sheet Metal Fabricators manage competing priorities and work autonomously to creatively reduce human safety risks, food safety risks, waste and top system performance losses. Fabricators must be able to understand production systems, assess losses, design creative solutions, determine materials and time needed, work from all types of blueprints and drawings, fabricate and install. Fabrication includes braking, welding, and cutting. They must develop and maintain good working relationships with various outside contractors and vendors. We are hiring for 1st Shift (7:00 AM - 3:00 PM). Sheet Metal Fabricators must be willing to work any shift including nights in case of an emergency. Pay rate is $33.31 per hour. During the first six months, Fabricators receive a training rate of $30.74 per hour. After 6 months, Fabricators will receive a pay increase to the full pay rate of $33.31 per hour. Main Responsibilities: Follow all company safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment Provide technical support and plant leadership for equipment, component, or system modifications Troubleshoot complex, multi-system problems Be able to use common machine shop equipment such as shears, brakes, punches, grinders, saws and drill presses. Must be able to field measure, design, complete sheet metal layout, fabrication, and installation Must be able to identify parts and materials needed and estimate labor hours Must be proficient in welding including stick, TIG, MIG, and sanitary welding. Must be able to work with various materials including sheet metal, metal tubing, flat stock, gasketing and rubber transitions Modify and maintain pneumatic conveyor piping Manage time appropriately and be able to prioritize a Work Order backlog. Utilize the Maintenance Management Information System (Maximo) to report and complete maintenance work orders Assist with training new employees as needed Attend meetings and trainings as required Perform additional tasks as assigned Minimum Qualifications: Must be 18 years of age or older Must have the ongoing right to work in the U.S. without sponsorship High School Diploma or GED 5 years’ experience in industrial maintenance or equivalent education in a related field Fabrication and design experience Computer Maintenance Management System experience Willing and able to work any shift schedule, including nights and weekends, as needed Food manufacturing experience preferred Journeyman License preferred Must be able to lift 50 – 100lbs max at times Must be able to stand on a ladder and reach above head to work on rotary valves that are up to but not limited to 1 hour at a time. Must be able to use a hoist and balance pieces of equipment that could weigh up to 300 lbs. to remove or replace the equipment. Must be able to stand for long periods of time (>30 min) at one time while working on a problem. Must be able to stoop, bend, kneel and crawl to be able to get to certain pieces of equipment for long periods of time (>30 min). Must be able to climb ladders (A frame, stationery and platform) and steps to reach work areas. Occasionally must be able to manipulate your body to work in cramped and awkward positions. Must be able to lay on your back to get under equipment to work on it for long periods of time (> 30 min). Must be able to use hands to manipulate and work with a variety of hand tools and machinery. Ability to work in hot, cold, noisy, dusty, wet environmental working conditions Ability to work flexible workdays and hours depending on the season Ability to wear protective clothing and equipment such as safety shoes, face masks, safety glasses, hearing protection, a hard hat, a hair/beard net and gloves when required Ability to work with allergens that might be present in a food environment Willing to work around industrial high-speed moving machinery Ability to work at a tobacco-free site, except in designated areas COMPANY OVERVIEW We exist to make food the world loves.
