Site Overview

Established in 2000, the John F. Welch Technology Center (JFWTC) in Bengaluru is our multidisciplinary research and engineering center. Engineers and scientists at JFWTC have contributed to hundreds of aviation patents, pioneering breakthroughs in engine technologies, advanced materials, and additive manufacturing.

Role Overview:

  • Lead impactful projects, solve real problems: Analyze and evaluate engine operational severity, support root cause investigations, and develop innovative solutions to predict and prevent future occurrences through creative and proactive problem-solving
  • Drive innovation: Create and execute strategies that push the boundaries of fleet management using physics and advanced data-driven analytics.
  • Collaborate and communicate: Work closely with cross-functional teams, share your findings in technical and program reviews, and communicate project updates to stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
  • Document and deliver: Ensure technical data is properly documented and aligned with engineering policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Statistics, Machine Learning, or a related field.
  • Experience: 6+ years of experience in engineering, with at least 3 years focused on aircraft engines, turbomachinery dynamics, performance, mechanical design, or engineering tools.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Python programming and a strong understanding of engineering technology and tools.
  • Problem-Solving: Exceptional design creativity and analytical skills to tackle complex challenges.
  • Communication: Ability to effectively share ideas and insights across all levels of the organization, both internally and externally.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in Engineering.

  • Expertise in physics-based multi-disciplinary modeling of failures using engineering tools.

  • Familiarity with aircraft flight operations and engine performance.

  • Experience with data-driven models, including statistics, reliability, probability, and data mining techniques.

  • Hands-on experience with data quality, including fielded engine data, environmental data, full flight data systems, or test cell data.

  • Proficiency in R, SQL, Spotfire, and Python for dashboard creation and implementation.

  • Lean Six Sigma certification (Green or Black Belt).

  • Humble: respectful, receptive, agile, eager to learn
