The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Technical Ownership
- Serve as the project lead for the design and development of new equipment and process implementation.
- Focus on machining operations , including grinding, milling/drilling, EDM processes.
- Ensure processes are robust, safe, and capable of meeting quality and delivery requirements.
Process Improvement
- Implement engineering processes and principles to improve production efficiency, quality, and repeatability.
- Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to reduce waste, variability, and defects.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective action initiatives for process-related issues. Perform read across for like processes to ensure full closure of corrective actions.
Team Coordination
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Production, Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and process Engineering.
- Act as a liaison between the production floor and management, ensuring alignment on priorities and constraints.
Training and Mentorship
- Train and mentor manufacturing staff on best practices, standardized work, and safety protocols.
- Support the adoption of new technologies, equipment, and methods on the shop floor.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Data Analysis
- Analyze production data (throughput, scrap, rework, OEE, etc.) to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Make data-driven recommendations to adjust processes, resources, or tooling to meet production and quality targets.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation for new equipment and processes
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of manufacturing engineering experience)

Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in product manufacturing or a closely related field.

Prior experience directly supervising or leading a team of technicians, or production staff is strongly preferred.

Proven track record of leading engineering projects in a production environment.
Desired Characteristics
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., NX, Solid Works, or similar).
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, tooling design, and quality control techniques.
- Strong understanding of CNC machine Macro programming.
- Familiarity with GD&T, PFMEAs, control plans, and production documentation.
- In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
- Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance.
- Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks.
- Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems.
- Certifications (Preferred): Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher).
- Quality system certifications such as ISO 9001 or AS9100 exposure/experience.
- Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to influence across functions.
- Creativity and a proactive mindset toward identifying and implementing improvements.
- Leadership: Proven experience leading teams in a manufacturing environment (assigning work, setting priorities, and managing performance).
- Ability to influence and engage operators, engineers, and leaders at all levels.
- Skilled in conflict resolution, change management, and coaching, especially during process changes or new technology introduction.
