As the Turbine Airfoils Coatings Lead Procurement Specialist, you will manage sourcing and purchasing, negotiate contracts, support product development and quality improvements, and oversee suppliers performing coatings and special processes on turbine airfoil hardware for GE Aerospace’s Madisonville, Greenville, Auburn, and BladeworX shops.
You will collaborate with a cross functional team when negotiating with suppliers in accordance with Sourcing policies. This role is responsible for ownership of buying activity related to supplier contracts. The role requires cross-functional partnership, process rigor and discipline to standard work within your respective supply base. The role has a major impact on overall GE profitability.
This position will require up to 25% travel.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute category strategies for turbine airfoils coating services, aligned with program and operations priorities
- Progress the activities of supplier selection, proposals and quotes, quote analysis, negotiation, supply award, and contract authoring
- Complete sourcing and procurement activities compliantly per applicable policies and procedures
- Supplier data set up and maintenance to enable contract management and fulfillment activities (i.e. lead time, material configuration, etc.)
- Accountable for purchase agreement (PA) health to ensure contracts are not running out of quantity, time and are renegotiated in accordance with sourcing policies and guidelines
- Maintain market awareness and an in depth understanding of key business drivers to inform supplier selection
- Bring forward creative contractual solutions to promote overall contract performance / total cost of ownership
- Form and develop cross-functional teams to develop deal and negotiation strategy
- Utilize technical expertise, collaboration and judgement to solve problems
- Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience to provide coaching and training
- Explain information to bring team members to consensus around topics within field
- Convey performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 4 years' experience in Sourcing, Procurement, or Supply Chain in Aerospace or Complex Manufacturing)
- At least an additional 3 years of experience in Sourcing, Procurement, or Supply Chain in Aerospace or Complex Manufacturing
Desired Characteristics:
- Experience with supplier negotiation, contracting, and performance management
- Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and strong skills in Excel/data analysis
- Working knowledge of GE quality systems and procurement systems
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to manipulate, model, and interpret complex data (pricing, contracts, volume, productivity) to drive decisions
- Excellent relationship-building skills, able to develop trust and alignment with suppliers and cross-functional internal stakeholders
- Skilled at influencing without direct authority, driving cross-functional alignment and holding suppliers accountable to commitments
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment, managing multiple contracts, suppliers, and priorities concurrently
- Humble: respectful, receptive, agile, eager to learn
- Transparent: shares critical information, speaks with candor, contributes constructively
