We were meant to fly.The Bearings Lead Design Engineer‘s primary responsibility will be to perform design activities related to Bearings of aeronautical mechanical power transmissions for future applications and lead hardware procurement for technology demonstrators (including flight demos).In this role you will utilizes deep expertise on rolling bearings for aeronautical power gearboxes to solve complex problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and has the ability to affect short‑term and some long‑term business goals.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
Build and strengthen technical expertise on bearings: Develop and consolidate rigorous technical knowledge on bearings for aeronautical power gearboxes and accessory gearboxes, with specific focus on bearing selection and sizing, lubrication regimes and oil systems interaction, heat generation, cooling and thermal behavior, internal clearance, preload and stiffness, rotordynamics and system-level behavior
Execute technical feasibility studies and concept design of bearing systems and related hardware (races, cages, spacers, preload systems, snap rings, etc.) for next‑generation engine opportunities (Next Gen Narrow Body, Hybrid Electric platforms)
Definition of lubrication and sealing concepts
Design subsystems and components to meet CTQs
Design bearing sub‑systems and interfaces (housings, shafts interfaces, spacers, seals)
Capture requirements and define validation strateg
Execute detailed design of bearing components
Collaborate with other functions and suppliers
Proactively support and lead concurrence design activities with internal teams
Issue technical documents related to bearing design according to engineering policies and procedures
Use of design tools includes: Unigraphics NX for 3D modeling and 2D drafting of bearings and related hardware, CAE: Nastran, Ansys and in‑house software for structural analysis
Qualifications/Requirements
High School Technical diploma with extensive, proven experience in bearing design or Degree in Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering from an accredited university
Good knowledge of fundamental mechanical design concepts, mechanics of materials, design hand calculations
Experience on supply chain processes and HW procurement.
Have strong engineering outlook, hands-on engineering foundation and eagerness to learn
Clear thinking and diligent approach
English and Italian language fluent knowledge, both written and oral
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Work Visa, in accordance with local regulation, is required
