Job Description Summary
The Lead Ceramic Matrix Composite (CMC) Thermal Process Engineer is a key member of the technical team that helps current and future programs to achieve program milestones and meet assigned objectives. In this role, you will work both independently and with various teams to develop, mature, and implement thermal processes that support manufacturing of CMC components for aircraft engines and other aerospace applications. Applies their technical knowledge and expertise to support technology maturation and product development across our application portfolio. This role works both independently and with adjacent teams to develop, mature, and implement thermal processes – both conventional and novel – that support manufacturing of CMC components for aircraft engines and other aerospace applications. This position collaborates closely with materials, design, and supply chain teams to meet business and customer objectives.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities Include:
Knowledge Sharing, Innovation and Technology:

Serves as a technical specialist and has knowledge and skill set to provide consultation and guidance to product, material application, and design teams for area of responsibility

Synthesizes and clearly communicate results of research and development activities related to thermal processing and applications; prepares and presents technical data to internal and external customers

May provide support to business development activities
Process Development:
-
Prioritizes and completes process engineering projects to achieve business objectives for technology and manufacturing process maturation and process risk reduction (D/PFMEA)

Develops subject-matter expertise on process mechanisms and applies that learning to solve problems and develop/protect intellectual property (IP)
Product Application:
-
Practices applied creativity to develop thermal processes that meet customer and product requirements

Maintains focus on practical application of process to current and novel future program/product requirements
Qualifications/requirements:
-
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years (Ceramics, Materials Engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgy and/or another Engineering from accredited university or college) experience + minimum of 3 years (Ceramics, Materials Engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgy and/or another Engineering from accredited university or college) experience

Candidates from EEDP, OMLP and MEDP will be considered in lieu of experience.
Desired Characteristics

2 plus years’ experience in ceramics or composites manufacturing is a huge plus!

M.S. degree or Ph.D.
