We’re producing High Pressure Turbine Blades that help power tomorrow’s commercial and military aircraft. We’re using innovative production methodologies including complex machining, special processes, and NDT. As the Controls Engineer at our Piedmont, SC site, you will be responsible and accountable for providing expertise associated with site-wide controls and automation including designing, modifying, and troubleshooting. In this role, you will be responsible for overall maintenance and upkeep of these systems, and support and lead initiatives involving process equipment and infrastructure that will reduce downtime and improve productivity generating higher site-wide OEE.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Design, program, and maintain PLC- and HMI-based control systems for manufacturing equipment and production lines
- Troubleshoot industrial equipment and control systems to minimize downtime and support delivery targets
- Commission new equipment, upgrades, and process improvements
- Develop and support preventive and predictive maintenance efforts for automation systems
- Collaborate with manufacturing, maintenance, quality, and technical support (engineering) teams to improve safety, efficiency, and throughput
- Modify and optimize existing control logic to support continuous improvement initiatives
- Develop and maintain electrical schematics, control narratives, and technical documentation
- Ensure compliance with plant safety standards, OSHA requirements, and applicable electrical codes
- Provide technical support and training to maintenance and operations personnel
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience with PLC programming and/or experience designing and building factory automation systems)
Desired Characteristics:
- Knowledge of industrial networks – Experience with MT connect standard a strong plus
- Ability to read, write, and troubleshoot ladder/word logic
- Experience with robotics, motion control, or other automated systems
- Experience with CMMS systems (such as Maximo) and production KPIs (OEE, SQDC)
