Job Description Summary

As part of GE Aerospace’s Future of Flight and Integrated Design & Build teams, we create and test innovative solutions for the future of our business. In this role, you will contribute to advancements in aircraft component design, focusing on the Turbine Frame or Low-Pressure Turbine (LPT) structures, airfoils, or rotors for the RISE Open Fan technology demonstrator engine program. Ideal candidates bring strong technical project management skills and/or demonstrated component design experience. This position offers the flexibility of a fully remote setup (Germany or UK) or an optional hybrid schedule (office and home).

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • As part of GE Aerospace’s RISE Open Fan turbine frame and low-pressure turbine technology maturation and ground and flight engine demonstration efforts, develop mechanical design solutions for assigned hardware that satisfy program requirements.
  • Support coordination and collaboration across global teams and disciplines (incl. thermal, aero, and systems design), module leaders, and hardware procurement.
  • Communicate design risks to stakeholders to facilitate collective decision-making.
  • Create innovative solutions to meet broad design objectives for assigned hardware and overall module.
  • Lead and complete design reviews, drawing releases, quality requirements, and assembly analyses.
  • Suggest areas for technology advancements and recommend approaches or programs to achieve them.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Master’s degree in an engineering discipline with industrial experience in mechanical design.
  • Proven track record in delivering complex programs and ability to work in cross-functional global teams in multicultural environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to advance technology and generate innovative solutions.
  • Fluency in English.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience in the gas turbine or aviation industry, specifically in mechanical design for components such as rotors, airfoils, and structures.
  • Skills in Finite Element Analysis (e.g. Ansys) and 2D/3D modeling of mechanical components (e.g. NX/Teamcenter).
