Role Overview:
- Conceptual, or theoretical activities relating to the development, improvement, and usage of materials, coatings, and processes undertaken to build, apply, or shape the materials.
- Developing conceptual knowledge of professional discipline. May include support roles with specialized expertise or technical knowledge in broad area.
- Applies general knowledge of business developed through education or experience. Understands how work of own team contributes to the area.
- Resolves issues using established procedures. Consults supervisor or more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.
- Collaborates with others to solve issues for structures and airfoils repair domain. For customer facing roles, develops strong customer relationships and serves as the interface between customer and GE Aerospace. Exchanges technical information asks questions and checks for understanding.
The Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will be an experienced materials science engineer with deep expertise in aerospace materials development, strong knowledge of metallic materials, and a proven ability to lead cross-functional projects.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical & Materials Science Engineering.
- At least 5 years of experience.
- Good level of understanding on metallic materials, their physical and mechanical properties and processing.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in writing and orally in English.
- Proven self-starter and independent worker who can work with cross-functional teams
- Fast in action but with detailed technical review and good documentation
- Project Management Skills related to material technologies
- Strong teamwork and communication skills, eager to learn continuously
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master of Science in Materials Science Engineering is preferred.
- Awareness and/or experience in aerospace industry is preferred.
- Proficiency in project management is preferred.
- Awareness on challenges for welding application for component repair is plus.
- Knowledge of non-destructive testing (NDT) methods, such as X-ray, ultrasonic, and dye penetrant testing, to verify weld integrity.
- Awareness and knowledge of aerospace materials and material testing; titanium, nickel, iron etc. based super alloys, their processing and properties are plus.
- Ability to coordinate several tasks/projects simultaneously, strategically prioritize work with working closely with cross-functional teams.
- A self-starter with an eye on problem solving and driving solutions
