As Materials Behavior Lead Engineer you are responsible for the design and execution of materials property test programs to understand the behavior of metallic materials applied across the full life cycle of aero engines. Activities aimed at proving a concept to be valid or technically feasible by the application of scientific and engineering methodologies. Work in this family typically has the objective of demonstrating through test or analyses the performance and implementation potential of a concept. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required but this is typically with guidance.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Apply Materials Behavior expertise in metallic material mechanical test program planning and program coordination.

  • Apply statistical and curve regression methodologies to generate and publish mechanical property design curves.

  • Partner with internal and external lab specialists and technicians to meet customer program requirements and deadlines.

  • Identify, develop, evaluate, and introduce engineering solutions to meet near term and long-range engineering needs.

  • Provide technical expertise on product problems throughout the business including supplier and field support.

  • Develop and lead long term research and development programs on materials and processes. Execute developmental testing programs of engine or test hardware to support qualification part processing.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • PhD in Materials Science or Master’s degree in Materials Science, Chemical, Mechanical or Aeronautic Engineering or related discipline with experience in an industrial environment.

  • Knowledge of aviation engine materials: Steels, Aluminum, Magnesium. Experience in material testing.

  • Proficiency in English and Italian (written and verbal).

  • Work Visa, in accordance with local regulation, is required

  • Experience in a similar position and/or in a complex industrial environment.

  • Proven self-starter and independent worker able to work with cross-functional teams.

  • Fast in action but with detailed technical review and good documentation.

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, eager to learn continuously.
