Job Description Summary
The Dayton Cores and Castings (DCC) facility is a GE Aerospace manufacturing shop that makes HPT Airfoil Cores and Castings. We are a low-rate production shop that develops the leading edge of airfoil technology to deliver value through new product introduction and manufacturing industrialization. We are proud to have been awarded OSHAS’s highest safety rating.
As the Quality Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that products, processes, and systems meet GE Aerospace, customers, and regulatory requirements. This role is in Beaver Creek Ohio, just outside Dayton.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Focus on driving defect reduction, process capability, compliance and continuous improvement across manufacturing operations
- Maintain, review and update Quality Management System (QMS) documentation including Work Instructions, Quality Technical Plans, SOPs and etc.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to drive process capability review, statistical analysis and reduction of variation needed to implement changes on procedures that leads to process improvements
- Perform internal and external audits (Special processes, 5S, in-process workstation audits, ISO/AS9100 audits) to support quality compliance and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with Engineering, manufacturing operations (cores and castings) for continuous improvements, process changes, and data analysis/review
- Ensure a timely review, submittal, follow-up and closure of SPS, MRB/QNs, ECAV / FAI, SCARs and support manufacturing for disposition processes
- Lead identification, containment, risk assessment, and verification activities for potential escapes and/or escapes
- Identify improvement opportunities on cores and casting processes, NDT, special processes, and Metallurgical laboratory processes
- Conduct supplier assessments or support GE’s Supplier Quality Engineering team, as required
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of Aerospace Quality and/or Investment Casting and Ceramic Core Manufacturing environment experience)
- At least an additional 3 years of Aerospace Quality and/or Investment Casting and Ceramic Core manufacturing environment experience
Desired Characteristics:
- Engineering Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college
- Knowledge in APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) and PPAP are a plus.
- Knowledge of AS9100, AS13100 and AS9102.
- Experience interpreting blueprints, GD&T, NDT and Quality/Engineering specifications.
- Experience in RCCA/CAPA Quality methods such as 5 Whys, 8D, 4-blocker
- Experience analyzing problems, identifying root causes, and providing efficient and effective corrective actions
