Job Description Summary
The Product Cost Optimization Engineer will play a key role in driving product re-engineering and cost reduction initiatives at our Grid Solutions Bushing manufacturing site. This position is dedicated to identifying and implementing structured cost-out strategies across product designs and manufacturing processes, ensuring sustainable savings while maintaining quality and compliance standards. Working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, the engineer will support the site’s operational efficiency and contribute to long-term competitiveness.
Job Description Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and execute product cost optimization initiatives at our bushings manufacturing site, including re-engineering activities aimed at reducing material, manufacturing, and operational costs.
- Analyze current product designs, BOMs, and processes to identify and implement cost-out opportunities without compromising quality or compliance.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, Sourcing, Quality) to drive cost reduction projects.
- Develop business cases for proposed cost optimization actions and present recommendations to management.
- Monitor and report on cost-out performance, documenting improvements and lessons learned.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or related field); Master’s preferred.
- Proven experience in product re-engineering, cost reduction, or value analysis/value engineering within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to deliver measurable cost savings.
- Hands-on knowledge of 3D CAD tools (preferably PTC Creo)
- Effective communication and collaboration skills in an international, cross-functional environment.
- Proficiency in Italian and English
Desired Skills:
- Familiarity with BOM and drawing release processes.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Proficiency with relevant engineering and data analysis tools.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
