You will provide strategic and technical leadership, ensuring high-quality system-level engineering solutions, robust technical governance, and effective people and capability development aligned with business goals.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Strategy

Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse team of engineers across System Studies, Design, Requirements, and Integration disciplines.

  • Define and execute a clear vision and operating model for the Systems Engineering organization in alignment with the GSI Engineering strategy.

  • Drive a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Technical Governance

Ensure consistent and high-quality delivery of system-level engineering deliverables, including performance studies, specifications, models, and integration plans.

  • Oversee system architecture and technical interfaces between disciplines (e.g., control, primary, secondary, software, and protection).

  • Provide guidance and review for project-critical design decisions, ensuring technical compliance with standards and customer requirements.

  • Project & Portfolio Execution

Support bid and project execution phases by defining system-level concepts and integration strategies.

  • Collaborate with global engineering teams, project management, and supply chain to ensure smooth system integration and handover to commissioning.

  • Drive design standardization, digital engineering tools, and best practices across HVDC, FACTS, and ACS domains.

  • People & Capability Development

Build strong succession and competency plans for all Systems Engineering subfunctions.

  • Promote talent growth through coaching, technical training, and cross-project exposure.

  • Attract and retain high-performing engineers with a focus on diversity and inclusion.

  • Stakeholder Management

Partner closely with NPI, Tendering, and Regional teams to ensure alignment on technical strategy and resource deployment.

  • Represent Systems Engineering in internal and external technical forums, customer meetings, and audits.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical or Power Systems Engineering (or related discipline). PhD preferred.

  • 15+ years of experience in system-level engineering for power transmission projects, preferably including HVDC and FACTS systems.

  • Proven leadership experience in managing engineering teams or functions in a matrix, global organization.

  • Deep understanding of system studies (load flow, transient stability, harmonics, EMT), control and protection concepts, and system integration challenges.

  • Strong communication and influencing skills across multi-disciplinary and multicultural environments.

  • Demonstrated ability to drive standardization, process improvement, and innovation.

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience in large EPC environments.

  • Familiarity with industry standards (IEC, IEEE, CIGRE).

  • Exposure to digital tools (e.g., PSCAD, MATLAB/Simulink, DIgSILENT Power Factory) and model-based systems engineering approaches.

  • Passion for developing people and enabling the next generation of technical leaders.
