The Aero Controls LM6000 Product Owner demonstrates accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives within the LM6000 Gas Turbine (GT) Controls product line. In this role, you will own the product lifecycle, influencing budgets, operating plans, and technical strategy to meet business needs across the organization. You will manage complex issues within the LM6000 domain, providing thought leadership and technical direction to ensure the product line remains competitive, reliable, and aligned with industry trends.The Product Owner leads the resource allocation, defect management, and software release strategies for the LM6000, driving a culture of operational acumen, evaluative judgment, and a strong customer-focused mindset. The LM6000 Product Owner is responsible to ensure successful execution of projects, leading an Agile Team through the exciting times of High Energy Demand and Decarbonization.
Job Description
Main Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership & Impact: Own and influence budgets and operating plans for the LM6000 product line. Exercise high levels of autonomy and evaluative judgment to achieve outcomes that impact the broader Aero Controls business unit.
- Team & Resource Management: Allocate tasks and responsibilities across medium-to-large teams based on skill sets, availability, and project demands, applying Agile Methodology
- Lifecycle & Defect Management: Lead the Defect Management Process, including Defect Reviews and the creation of Hot List items. Monitor the LM6k Pac case system to ensure issues are properly managed and assigned to appropriate team members for resolution.
- Software & NPI Coordination: Collaborate closely with the NPI (New Product Introduction) team to manage and release master software versions. Monitor timelines for advance orders to ensure appropriate software is delivered to meet critical customer deadlines.
- Technical Authority & Problem Solving: Lead others to find creative solutions within complex manufacturing and engineering processes. Evaluate conflicting data and use multiple internal and external resources to make high-stakes technical decisions regarding LM6000 controls.
- Operational Excellence: Participate in and lead key project review meetings (PRR, DDR, DVR, CRR) and Aero Controls Risk Review Meetings. Ensure technical and schedule risk mitigation across the complete LM6000 scope.
- Continuous Improvement: Lead Lessons Learned reviews and update standard processes and instructions to ensure they are current, aligned with best practices and the applicable Quality Management System, and influence overall functional policy.
- Business Expertise: Interpret internal and external business challenges and industry trends to recommend best practices that improve the LM6000 product line.
- Communication & Negotiation: Present complex technical and business solutions to senior leadership. Negotiate with internal stakeholders and external partners/vendors to adopt different points of view or take action on critical product initiatives.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Controls, Electrical, Mechanical, or related Engineering.
- Substantial experience in Gas Turbine Controls, with specific expertise in the LM6000 product line.
- Advanced technical aptitude, including deep knowledge of engineering tools, software release cycles, and control system architecture.
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English, with a proven ability to communicate complex messages to executive-level leadership.
- Demonstrated experience applying Agile methodologies in a controls or software engineering environment
Desired Characteristics
- Demonstrated expertise in the design and application of GE power generation controls (Mark VIe or similar).
- Strong operational acumen with a track record of leading functional teams through complex, interdependent production cycles.
- Experience in power generation requisition, working directly with customers, EPCs, and project management teams.
- Ability to independently drive multi-functional teams and projects with moderate to high resource requirements and complexity.
- Proven expertise in technical writing and the ability to synthesize complex data from multiple resources into actionable business strategies.
