Job Description Summary
The U.S. Project Licensing Director will help establish and execute the project strategy for Regulatory Affairs, including new plant deployment, proposals for regulatory work scopes, and fuel facility licensing in the United States. This senior leader will accelerate the licensing needed for new technologies, services, outage work, and fuels. This role will oversee multiple project licensing efforts, including managing strategic efforts to accelerate bringing our disruptive, small modular reactor (BWRX-300) to market.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- For new plants and new products:
Lead the strategic development and deployment for U.S. GVH project licensing.

Implement the vision of the Regulatory Affairs and Licensing organization to support Business objectives through licensing offerings.

Establish and maintain effective business relationships with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and non-U.S. nuclear regulators as the main point of contact.

Establish and maintain effective business relationships with other New Plant Licensing Directors, Product Directors, engineering, quality, and other functions within the organization.

Provide expert knowledge of the U.S. NRC and non-U.S. nuclear rules and regulations, as appropriate.

Monitor applicable nuclear regulations and ensure GVH manages applicable changes.

Lead resolution of nuclear licensing / regulatory compliance issues.

Recommend and evaluate licensing alternatives.

Coordinate efforts and interfaces of the Regulatory Affairs organization with other GVH teams.

Coordinate interfaces with industry organizations (e.g., NEI, INPO, IAEA, WNA).

Work with the team to help set direction for driving execution of multiple new build projects to be on schedule and on budget.

Work in collaboration with the licensing managers, licensing engineers, and licensing project managers.

Maintain nuclear licensing basis documents and correspondence records.

Manage periodic and reactive nuclear regulatory inspections/audits.

Possess working knowledge of nuclear licensing basis documents and regulatory correspondence records for active BWRX-300 projects.

Possess working knowledge of the BWRX-300 design and licensing risks.

Lead process improvement initiative and innovative initiatives to drive efficiencies and reduce cost in Licensing.
Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or related technical discipline from an accredited university or college.

Minimum of 10 years of experience in nuclear regulated design, operations or licensing.

At least 8 years of experience in a leadership/management role with significant scope and responsibility.

Willingness and ability to travel occasionally.
Desired Characteristics
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: Ability and willingness to obtain and maintain a site security clearance, including NRC required background check.
Relocation to GEV office location (Wilmington, NC, Washington, DC, Cambridge, MA, Atlanta, GA) is desired.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $150,900.00 and $289,200.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.
Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
