Join us and contribute to the future of energy!
As part of this program, you will engage in cutting-edge developments in the field of rotordynamics. In today's evolving power grid-particularly with the rapid expansion of data centers-torsional vibrations in turbo-generator shaft-lines pose increasing challenges to equipment reliability and the integrity of rotating components.
To address these risks, advanced torsional vibration monitoring systems are being implemented. You will contribute to the enhancement of our model-based algorithms for processing torsional monitoring data. Your work will play a key role in enabling the efficient analysis of critical customer data and the automated delivery of meaningful, actionable insights.
Throughout the project, you will gain hands-on experience with:
- Modern rotordynamic simulation and diagnostic tools
- Signal processing methods for rotating machinery condition monitoring
- Best practices in clean coding
- Real-world strategies used by a global energy leader to tackle plant operational challenges
Job Description:
- As an Engineering Intern
- Torsional Vibration Analysis**, you will contribute to advancements in methods of managing the risks of torsional vibrations in rotating equipment-especially relevant for high-demand applications like data centers.**
You will be tasked with developing elements of a standardized analysis and reporting framework for processing of severe torsional events captured by GE's Torsional Vibration Monitoring System. Your work will contribute directly to improving data analysis efficiency, enhancing customer reporting quality, and ultimately reducing operational risks for GE's global customer base.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze torsional vibration data to identify patterns and risks in power generation equipment.
- Develop and implement a standardized framework enhancement for classifying, analyzing, and reporting critical vibration events.
- Collaborate with engineers and technical experts to validate and refine methodologies.
- Contribute to system optimization for faster and more accurate data processing.
- Support the preparation of actionable insights and reports for internal teams and customers.
- Participate in technical workshops, training sessions, and cross-functional collaboration activities.
- Engage with a community of engineering peers, mentors, and GE Vernova professionals.
Qualifications:
- Current student (Bachelor's or Master's) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an interest in mechanical systems and vibration analysis.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Python, MATLAB, Excel).
- Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal).
- Self-motivated, proactive, and eager to learn.
- Enthusiastic about energy innovation, sustainability, and real-world engineering challenges.
What You'll Gain:
- Real-world engineering experience in a global energy company.
- Exposure to cutting-edge technologies and energy infrastructure.
- Opportunities to travel and network within GE Vernova's international ecosystem.
- Mentorship, professional development, and potential career pathways within GE Vernova.
