Overview We are seeking a full-tim Project Manager Software Engineering in our Salem, OR location.

In this role, you will be responsible for serving as a leader in large engineering projects of high complexity including developing and execution of project plans and reporting of project status while leading project management process improvements in an aviation software/hardware environment.

Essential Functions Manages large projects across business units with limited guidance Leverages advanced understanding and expertise of project management skills on large engineering projects of high complexity, including understanding, developing and communicating project scope, milestones, and decisions Utilizes advanced product domain knowledge to create new processes, tools and requirements Identifies and leads process improvement activities Drives projects to closure, leveraging project metrics and risk management principles to identify and resolve issues and risks Creates mitigation plans and appropriately escalates to management for alignment Leverages established skills to provide clear project status, documentation, and reporting for any size project, or complexity including cases where some elements are unknown Leverages communication skills through active listening, responding appropriately and managing difficult conversations Builds relationships and gains alignment within the business unit Identifies and resolves conflicts through understanding of interdependencies of and development of effective relationships between the development team(s), other Garmin teams/departments, and external entities Serves as a role model for leading effective and efficient team meetings Ensures team members/stakeholders are appropriately informed of project scope, schedule and cost May determine and document program objectives and requirements Demonstrates project ownership with limited involvement from Team Leader/Mentor, functions as single point of contact for project needs, provides significant contributions to the success of projects Exemplifies Garmin’s Mission, Vision, Values and Quality Policy and proactively works to improve Garmin’s image and culture Participates in recruiting activities as assigned Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline AND a minimum of 5 years' relevant project management experience OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant project management experience Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule) Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills Ability to lead a team in the development of product/concept development plans as well as successfully execute projects of any scale or complexity Advanced understanding of production and operations issues as they relate to engineering project management, including the ability to successfully identify and mitigate risks Demonstrated success in bringing together cross functional teams for effective problem resolution Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others Excellent time management skills and ability to generate and support pragmatic solutions while maintaining high quality standards Previous experience managing multiple projects simultaneously Proven communication, interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills through success in previous project management experience Computer skills in MS Office Suite (Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint) or similar Desired Qualifications Relevant experience in the coordination of multiple projects within a software development and engineering environment

Experience: working cross functionally with design, project and software engineering teams as well as leadership and stakeholders Have a continuous improvement mindset and create process improvements where necessary Reporting capabilities and a background in risk tracking is highly desired A passion for Aviation or experience within the industry would be ideal Garmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
