JOB DESCRIPTION
FOX is currently seeking a Counsel, Business & Legal Affairs. The Counsel, Business & Legal Affairs primarily provides business and legal affairs-related support to the FOX Sports businesses. The Counsel, Business & Legal Affaris will generally support counseling, negotiating, drafting, and legal analysis of various contracts. The successful candidate will be required to skillfully balance legal versus business considerations and advise FOX’s legal and business leaders on their strategic options in order to help them make informed business decisions.
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Draft a variety of sports rights acquisitions, talent deals, production, original programming, documentaries, field operations, advertising, licensing, sponsorship, and various other agreements; and negotiating the terms thereof related to FOX’s diverse portfolio of sports rights
- Guide FOX Sports business executives through the process of acquiring and producing live sports events and original programming, including coordinating with outside counsel and internal legal contacts to ensure our business complies with local rules and requirements (e.g., compliance, privacy requirements, etc.)
- Analyze a wide variety of contracts in response to business team questions, as well as providing necessary contractual/research information to senior business and legal executives
- Work with various FOX Sports business groups to assist in litigation avoidance and contractual education/counseling for parties involved in negotiations
- Protection of company from unnecessary litigation exposure
- Provide occasional project oversight of paralegals, interns, law clerks, and assistants
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
- 3-5 years of transactional legal experience
- Extensive drafting experience and ability to engage in complex legal analysis
- Excellent reasoning, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to handle high level reasoning tasks, and make common sense decisions tempered by good, accurate legal knowledge, often under extreme time limits
- Ability to work well with clients and peers
NICE TO HAVE, BUT NOT A DEAL BREAKER
- Juris Doctor degree and active member of the California Bar; will consider those eligible for Registered In-House Counsel status (Rule 9.46)
- Rigorous law firm experience
- Intellectual property, developing technologies experience

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $128,000.00-168,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
