JOB DESCRIPTION

FOX Sports Digital is seeking a Freelance Assistant Editor to support the creation of social-first, vertical video content across Instagram, Tik Tok, X, and YouTube, while also assisting with select linear television projects. The Freelance Assistant Video Editor is a critical part of the post-production workflow, focusing on media management, project setup, and offline editing, while contributing creatively to digital storytelling.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, technically strong, and eager to grow as an editor. You understand the fundamentals of social video pacing and storytelling, are comfortable working in fast-turnaround environments, and take pride in clean project organization and efficient workflows. This position offers hands-on experience working alongside editors, producers, and digital teams on high-visibility content.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Media Management & Project Setup:

  • Ingest, organize, and maintain media using established media asset management systems
  • Set up projects for editors, including timelines, bins, sequences, and versioning
  • Maintain clean file structures, naming conventions, and asset tracking throughout production
  • Prepare projects for handoff, review, and final delivery across digital and social platforms

Offline Editing & Editorial Support:

  • Assist with offline editing for social and digital content, including string-outs, selects, and rough cuts
  • Create social-first edits with a focus on vertical video formats
  • Support editors with revisions, versioning, exports, and last-minute changes
  • Pull footage, archive projects, and manage deliverables across multiple platforms

Social & Platform Support:

  • Help adapt content for Instagram, Tik Tok, X, and YouTube, ensuring proper aspect ratios and formatting
  • Support captioning, basic graphic elements, and visual cleanup as needed
  • Learn and apply platform-specific best practices for pacing, runtime, and presentation

Collaboration & Workflow:

  • Work closely with Editors, Producers, and Digital teams to meet daily production needs
  • Communicate clearly regarding project status, asset needs, and deadlines
  • Support cross-functional workflows across digital, studio, and linear teams

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • 1+ years of post-production or assistant editing experience, preferably in digital or social media environments
  • Experience with media asset management systems and file organization best practices
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, including Premiere Pro, After Effects, , and Photoshop
  • Basic knowledge of video/audio codecs and social platform delivery specs
  • Understanding of offline editing workflows
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
  • Familiarity with Mac-based production environments
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with changing priorities

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $32.21-44.71 per hour.
