The Customer Digital Account and Consent Product line is led out of Ford's Global Data, Insights and Analytics (GDIA) skill team. This product line develops and manages a set of customer-facing products that are real-time, high-throughput, and global in nature. These products provide key functionality for customer-facing applications such as Ford Pass, Lincoln Way, and e Commerce. The products enable the use of connected vehicle information for insights creation, enhanced customer experiences, and ensure compliance with global regulations pertaining to customer data privacy and consent.
Our key products include:
- Digital Account Platform (CAP Global & CAP China): An Enterprise account management ecosystem providing a best-in-class consumer experience by managing online profile, vehicle, and address book information in real-time.
- CLIMES (Central Legal Information Management System): The master system for consumer-facing legal language text and internal data usage purposes.
- Consent Platform: The master system of record for all consumer consent globally, encompassing multiple transactional and data products.

As a Software Engineering Manager within GDIA, you will lead the engineering organization responsible for the Customer Digital Account & Consent Platform. You will be responsible for the technical roadmap, architectural standards, and operational health of mission-critical systems that power Ford’s global digital ecosystem. This is a leadership position requiring a balance of deep technical expertise and organizational management.
You will lead a high-performing team of approximately 15 software engineers, driving the delivery of scalable, multi-cloud API microservices while fostering a culture of software craftsmanship and continuous improvement. This role requires a high-caliber leader who can balance hands-on technical guidance with strategic organizational leadership, ensuring our platforms are scalable, secure, and resilient.
Based in Dearborn, MI, this is a hybrid position with a required four-day onsite presence each week
You'll have...
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
- 5+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, ideally within complex, enterprise-level environments.
- 3+ years of hands-on development experience demonstrating deep proficiency with Java and the Spring Boot framework.
- 3+ years of technical leadership experience, having served as an "Anchor", Team Leader or similar within Agile development teams, with a strong track record of mentoring and upskilling software engineers. Additional experience will include:Proven ability to drive technical vision and execution aligned with business priorities and regulatory compliance.
- Data-driven with strong analytical skills, adept at using metrics and system insights to inform engineering decisions.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, experienced in working across global, matrixed teams.
- 3+ years of demonstrated expertise in designing, developing, and deploying large-scale, global APIs on leading cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- 1+ year experience in driving and implementing modern Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, e Xtreme Programming) and engineering practices (TDD, CI/CD, Refactoring, Clean Code, and Pair Programming).

- Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or related field
- Experience leading multi-functional, multi-team projects or large engineering teams.
- Deep understanding and practical experience with microservices architecture, including optimizing resiliency, scalability, and performance.
- Proficiency in the full API lifecycle, including developing, versioning, documenting (e.g., Swagger), and publishing APIs using platforms like Apigee and APIM.
- Hands-on experience leveraging a comprehensive suite of DevOps tools (Jenkins, Sonar Qube, CheckMarx, and GitHub).
- Experience in platform scalability, reliability engineering, and operational excellence, including defining/monitoring SLOs/SLAs.
- Familiarity with cloud orchestration, infrastructure as code (Terraform, Docker), and advanced automation.

This position is leadership level 6 and ranges from $129,600-244,680.

What you’ll do...
- Engineering Leadership & Architecture Lead the design and development of highly scalable, global microservices, ensuring architectural integrity and adherence to Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Clean Code principles.
- Drive the technical strategy for cloud-native infrastructure (GCP), optimizing for performance, cost-efficiency, and global availability while managing technical debt and evolutionary architecture.
- Site Reliability & Operational Excellence Establish and uphold rigorous SRE practices, including defining SLOs/SLAs, enhancing observability, and leading blameless post-mortems to drive continuous system improvement.
- Champion automation across the lifecycle—from CI/CD pipelines to automated infrastructure—to eliminate operational toil and accelerate delivery velocity for partner engineering teams.
- People Development & Strategic Execution Build and mentor a high-performing engineering organization, fostering a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and psychological safety across global, matrixed teams.
- Partner closely with Product Management and executive stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical execution plans, managing resource allocation and delivery timelines for high-impact initiatives.
