The French Consumer Risk Analyst is a strategic role responsible for the end-to-end management of a consumer portfolio, balancing proactive risk mitigation with business growth. This position oversees the entire credit lifecycle, from defining underwriting strategies and assessing new product risks to monitoring delinquency trends and managing credit scorecards.
- Portfolio Monitoring: Monitor the performance of the consumer portfolio, conduct deep-dive root cause analysis on trends, and provide actionable recommendations to implement risk mitigation measures.
- Underwriting Strategy: Define and review the Underwriting Strategy, including the management of credit cut-offs and referral rules to optimize the balance between risk and volume.
- Product Development: Support the definition and risk assessment of Product Plans. Ensure that new product launches or changes to existing offerings are risk-assessed and aligned with the broader business strategy.
- Commercial Analysis: Perform financial analysis on Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) at origination and maintain a strong proficiency in analysing SME financial information.
- Scorecard Management: Support the analysis required to develop, monitor, and update credit scorecards to ensure high predictive accuracy.
- Loss & Delinquency Analysis: Perform detailed analysis on delinquencies and losses; validate and refine the Collection Strategy to optimize recovery performance.
- Reporting: Ensure the timely and accurate submission of key risk reports to the central team, including the Local Monthly Delinquency Report, Delinquency Trends, and Monthly Frauds Report.
- Committee Governance: Create and publish the monthly Risk Committee deck. Lead the analysis of trends and issues to facilitate proactive management of the portfolio in coordination with Underwriting and Collections teams.
- Decision Authority: Act as a member of the Credit Underwriting Committee, providing expert recommendations and approvals for retail and leasing proposals.
- Policy & Compliance: Support the revision of the local Credit Policy and ensure full compliance with corporate policies and procedures, including credit risk frameworks and the authorities manual.
- Executive Escalation: Prepare and provide professional, data-driven rationales for requests and deviations to executive-level credit policy committees on behalf of the location.
Experience & Knowledge:
- Strong experience in Consumer portfolio management or credit risk activities.
- Proven experience in analysing financial information for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
- Experience in a decision-making capacity or as part of a formal credit approval committee.
- Strong understanding of credit scorecards and risk modelling.

- Analytical Mindset: Ability to manipulate complex data sets to suggest clear recommendations and mitigation plans.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to present complex risk rationales to executive-level stakeholders.
- Rigor: High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in reporting and policy compliance.
- Collaboration: Ability to work effectively across different teams (Operations, Collections, and Central Office).
- Languages: High level of proficiency in English is required for central reporting and international collaboration.
- Organization: Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet strict monthly deadlines.
This position is based in France, and it is expected the successful candidate will be able to attend the office for typically 4 days a week and remain flexible on the days they are required to attend the office according to business requirements.
