The Opportunity

As a Senior Ocean Operations Associate, you’ll go beyond day-to-day shipment execution. You will not only handle complex operational cases yourself but also guide a small squad of 5–6 associates, helping them deliver consistent quality and learn faster.

This role is designed for experienced operators who want to step into leadership while still being close to the action. You’ll be a problem-solver, coach, and process improver — building the foundation for future Team Leaders and Managers in Vietnam.

What You’ll Do

  • Execute and oversee end-to-end ocean freight shipments (FCL, LCL, import, export, intermodal).

  • Act as first point of escalation for your squad: troubleshoot rollovers, customs holds, port congestion, vendor delays.

  • Coach and mentor junior associates, sharing best practices and ensuring SOP adherence.

  • Manage relationships with carriers, trucking providers, CFS/warehouses, ensuring performance and resolving conflicts.

  • Ensure high data quality and milestone accuracy in Flexport systems, meeting KPIs and SLAs.

  • Support the implementation of new processes/projects (new carrier integrations, client onboarding, system upgrades).

  • Provide feedback to managers and cross-functional teams on vendor performance, process gaps, and client needs.

  • Step in as acting squad lead when required, preparing you for formal leadership roles.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain, business, or related fields.

  • 3–7 years of experience in freight forwarding, shipping lines, or logistics operations.

  • Strong knowledge of ocean freight processes (documentation, carrier booking, import/export flows).

  • Fluent in Vietnamese (client and vendor communication).

  • Intermediate to upper-intermediate English (regional/global collaboration, system usage).

  • Proven ability to coach or guide junior colleagues (formal or informal leadership experience).

  • Hands-on, detail-oriented, able to handle multiple shipments and exceptions under pressure.

  • Customer-first mindset, proactive problem solver, adaptable to change.

What You’ll Gain

  • Opportunity to lead a squad of 5–6 associates and build people management skills.

  • Deep expertise in Vietnam’s ocean freight landscape while working with Flexport’s global network.

  • Pathway to Team Leader or Manager roles as Flexport Vietnam expands.

  • Exposure to global best practices in supply chain, with access to tools, systems, and training.
