Help streamline client’s customs processes

The opportunity:

Flexport is experiencing massive growth with 3000+ Flexporters across 14 global offices and warehouses, and we’re just getting started.

With revenue growing at breakneck speed, Flexport is looking for a Senior Customs Associate to help shape our customs team in Antwerp, Belgium.**This role will start in Amsterdam **for the first ~6 months until we set our Belgian Customs entity. This is the perfect position for an experienced customs declarant with a background in customs who is detail-oriented, process-oriented, and loves to build! The position will have you working alongside and learning from some of the smartest people in the customs & logistics industry as we challenge the status quo and reduce the friction in global trade and showcase clients how to simplify their customs flow.

What you'll do:

• Be comfortable completing Belgium Customs declarations to a high standard

• Help to onboard new customers & build operational SOPs.

• Develop operational processes, see a problem, and fix it

• Work with the sales teams to provide high-level guidance on all things customs to prospecting clients.

• Help onboard and mentor new hires

• Think outside the box and find new ways of working that challenge the norm.

• Lead client discussion on high-level customs topic discussions around classification, origin, and valuation.

• Help build customs SOPs

• Customer-focused

• Provide high-level customer service to our customers and work with various stakeholders across different industries.

• Work in a team of customs professionals and help drive a team environment

• Contribute to projects to build new tech, implement new service offerings and manage different workflows.

• Collaborate with internal & External stakeholders in the development of operational efficiencies whilst being customer centric.

You candidate must be able to demonstrate they have:

• A true passion for everything customs and compliance - keeping up to date on updates and being a member of specific trade forums.

• Experience with using customs softwares bonus points if you have used AEB

Minimum of 5 years of current experience in customs & forwarding.

• A strong knowledge within the Belgium customs market.

• A proven track record of building processes, implementing new ideas and a passion for thinking outside of the box.

• Familiarity with Customs product classification, origin , valuation and the EU tariff.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

• A problem solver at heart.

• Courage to challenge the status quo when logic and reason require it. See something broken? Fix it.

• High level of computer literacy.
