Role Summary:

F5 is growing its AI Security team and is looking for an ambitious, versatile, and self-driven Backend Software Engineer. In this role, you will design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend applications that power world-first AI Security solutions. Your contributions will be crucial to building out our AI Security web application, ensuring robust, reliable, and cutting-edge technology to successfully meet business and customer needs.

Key Responsibilities

Build and Deliver Exceptional Technology

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications, SDKs, and tools to support AI Security solutions at scale.

• Collaborate with the product, QA, frontend, and data science teams to deliver seamless, user-friendly, high-performance software.

• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code, adhering to F5’s best practices in software development and secure coding.

Ensure Quality, Performance, and Architecture

• Test, troubleshoot, and optimize backend services to ensure maximum scalability, performance, and reliability.

• Architect backend features based on best practices in modern software design and scalable architecture patterns.

Continuous Improvement and Collaboration

• Proactively suggest and implement solutions to challenges encountered during development cycles.

• Thrive in a collaborative environment, working cross-functionally to ensure alignment with business and technical goals.

• Stay updated with emerging technologies, leveraging new tools and features where appropriate to improve backend systems.

Qualifications and Skills

Required Experience

• At least 5 years’ experience developing server-side applications using Python, FastAPI, or equivalent frameworks.

• Strong understanding of database technology, including platforms like PostgreSQL or MySQL.

• Demonstrated expertise in building, debugging, and maintaining RESTful APIs and multi-service backend systems.

• Excellent troubleshooting skills to debug and analyze complex software systems.

• A passion for owning and delivering high-quality backend solutions that meet business and customer needs.

Core Skills

• Critical Thinking: Structured problem-solving approach when debugging and troubleshooting multi-service applications.

• Collaboration: Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a larger engineering team.

• Communication: Clearly communicate ideas, features, and risks to technical and non-technical collaborators.

• Time Management: Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively while meeting deadlines.

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with Dockerized applications, Kubernetes, and cloud environments like AWS.

• Hands-on experience with testing and delivery pipelines, including automated CI/CD workflows (e.g., ArgoCD).

• Knowledge of secure coding practices and deploying applications in mission-critical production environments.
