What role you will play in our team
We are planning to hire an experienced Pipeline and Riser Engineer to work out of Exxon Mobil’s Houston Campus in the United States of America. The candidate would be part of Exxon Mobil’s Pipeline and Risers team in Exxon Mobil Technology and Engineering organization, responsible for:

The development of pipeline and riser systems within multi-discipline deepwater SURF (Subsea, Umbilicals, Risers, Flowlines) Project teams from concept through detailed engineering and installation, and
-
The structural integrity support of operated pipeline and riser systems throughout Exxon Mobil’s diverse, global portfolio of assets.
What you will do
-
Develop, specify, and apply riser and/or pipeline system design criteria for a wide variety of activities, developments, and operations, i.e., large-scale deepwater capital projects, R&D programs, and offshore installation activities.

Involvement in various engineering activities for deepwater projects from concept evaluation and selection to installation to commissioning and start up
-
Oversee engineering analysis studies (conducted by Exxon Mobil internal resources and / or third party companies) to support riser system and pipeline design.

Evaluate strengths and shortcomings of different pipeline and riser system designs and configurations.
-
Lead revisions to company standards and influence industry standard revisions
-
Interface with engineers from other disciplines (e.g., marine, flow assurance, materials, etc.) to align on work scopes and work products
-
Interface with suppliers, contractors and other third parties to ensure system components are qualified, manufactured and tested in alignment with Exxon Mobil expectations
-
Participate in offshore industry activities such as conferences, industry committees, Joint Industry Programs, technology development and integration
-
Participate in risk assessments, root cause failure analysis, fitness for service, and life extension evaluations
-
Mentor and guide less experienced engineers in the pipeline and riser discipline
-
Sustain and promote Exxon Mobil’s safety culture
About You
Skills and Qualifications
-
A minimum of 5 years of experience in Offshore Pipelines and Riser Engineering,
-
B.S., or M.S. degree in Engineering – preferably in Mechanical / Civil / Aerospace / Marine Engineering or related disciplines
-
Working knowledge of deepwater pipeline and riser systems, including design, installation, and operation
-
Working knowledge of applying pipeline and riser engineering codes & standards, such as API, ASME, DNV codes.
-
Willingness and ability to travel internationally
-
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of software programs
-
Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English
-
Ability to adapt to tight deadlines and frequent changes in priorities
Preferred Qualifications / Experience
-
Working experience with industry standards (e.g., API 17J, 17B, 2RD, 2RIM, DNV-ST-F101, DNV-ST-F201, DNV-RP-F110, etc.), industry best practices, and related work processes
-
Working experience with riser, pipeline, or structural analysis software programs such as Orca Flex, Abaqus, DNV Fat Free, etc.

Ability to adapt to tight deadlines and frequent changes in priorities
-
Strong leadership, influencing, and interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Strong organizational, coordination, planning, and interface skills
-
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
