Introduction to team
Escapia (part of Expedia Group) empowers professional vacation rental managers and helps facilitate dream vacations for thousands of travelers worldwide. We’re looking for creative, T‑shaped engineers who go deep technically while collaborating broadly. You’ll build customer‑facing features and optimized next‑generation workflows grounded in targeted data analysis and direct customer feedback. Expect challenging problem spaces — payment processing, search optimization, guest management, property management workflow optimization, and opportunities to apply domain‑driven design, event streaming, and rock‑solid APIs that drive business efficiency. Escapia software already fuels billions in booking revenue (including Vrbo) and we’re just getting started — advancing a large, mature product into cloud‑native services supporting a $1B+ bookings business.
Join our full‑stack engineering team (React/TypeScript; .NET, Node.js, and Kotlin), organized into distributed agile pods across the US and internationally. You'll collaborate across domains including reservations, availability, owner services, and distribution.
In this role, you will:
-
Deliver customer‑facing features prioritizing clarity, performance, and measurable business value. Apply domain‑driven design, contribute GraphQL/REST APIs, and leverage event streaming where it improves operational efficiency.
-
Build React components/pages delivering intuitive reservation, availability, and property management workflows
-
Implement GraphQL queries/mutations; consume REST services; contribute to domain‑driven schema evolution
-
Develop Node / Koltlin endpoints for domain APIs including payment, search optimization, guest management, and workflow orchestration features
-
Partner with product managers to clarify acceptance criteria and success metrics (adoption, task completion time)
-
Migrate components from .NET Framework to .NET 8 (reduce Windows/IIS footprint)
-
Optimize queries and indexes on MS SQL Server
-
Write unit/integration tests; raise coverage
-
Participate in design reviews; propose simplifications
-
Profile and optimize latency, memory usage, and DB performance
-
Contribute shared libraries (logging, auth, configuration)
-
Join on‑call rotation; triage incidents; drive root‑cause fixes
-
Collaborate with product, design, support, and other platform teams
-
Document APIs, feature behavior, and operational runbooks
-
Identify technical debt; submit remediation proposals
Minimum Qualifications:
-
2+ years professional development (or internship + strong portfolio)
-
Proficiency in C#; .NET Framework and/or .NET Core/.NET 6+
-
REST API development (ASP.NET Web API / ASP.NET Core )
-
Production React (hooks, state, composition patterns)
-
SQL Server fundamentals (query optimization, indexing)
-
Git & pull request workflows; effective code reviews
-
Unit testing (x Unit, NUnit, MSTest) and mocking (Moq)
-
Solid OOP, SOLID principles, clean code practices
-
Clear written and verbal communication
Additional Qualifications:
-
Exposure to .NET 8 (minimal APIs, performance diagnostics)
-
REST API development (Node / Java / Kotlin), exposure to GraphQL preferred
-
Strong JavaScript & TypeScript fundamentals (ES2022+, types, generics)
-
AWS or Azure (ECS/Lambda/App Service, RDS)
-
Docker & containerized local development
-
Kafka or RabbitMQ; event‑driven patterns
-
CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Team City); infrastructure as code basics
-
PowerShell scripting for build/release automation
-
Benchmarking & profiling (Benchmark Dot Net, dot Trace)
-
Familiarity with modern web stack components (React, Node.js, GraphQL, Elastic Search, MongoDB) for cross‑team collaboration
