Introduction to team

Our Expedia Product & Technology division builds innovative products, services, and tools to deliver high-quality experiences for travellers, partners, and our employees. A unified, singular technology platform powered by data and machine learning provides secure, differentiated, and personalised experiences for the traveler and our partners that drive loyalty and customer satisfaction.

The goal of Advertising Tech team is to spearhead advertising products and services across many Expedia brands including BEX, Hotels.com, Portfolio Brands (COMET & Hotwire.com), Expedia Partner Sites (EPS), and Vrbo. We help our advertisers identify travellers on EG sites, target specific traveller criteria, and then deliver the most relevant products.

In this role, you will:

  • Understands the relationship between applications, databases and technology platforms.

  • Develops and tests complex or non-routine software applications and related programs and procedures to ensure they meet design requirements.

  • Effectively applies knowledge of software design principles, data structures and/or design patterns and computer science fundamentals to write code that is clean, maintainable, optimised, modular with good naming conventions.

  • Effectively applies knowledge of databases and database design principles to solve data requirements.

  • Effectively uses the understanding of software frameworks and how to leverage them to write simpler code.

  • Leads/clarifies code evolution in code reviews.

  • Brings together different stakeholders with varied perspectives to develop solutions to issues, and contributes own suggestions

Experience and qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a technical field or equivalent related professional experience.

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 3+ years with a Master's degree.

  • Experience developing software in Java/ Python .

  • Experience maintaining and running multiple software projects in a production environment (e.g., bug fixing, troubleshooting, monitoring).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated strength in a couple of languages or in one language with multiple technology implementations.

  • Experience creating APIs to be consumed across a business unit.

  • Ability to identify the strengths and weaknesses of different languages for particular use cases.

  • Skilled in selecting appropriate technology from available options to implement solutions.

  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues in complex production software environments.
